[USCG Cigar Newb]

I love you people but I hate you people. Before joining I knew nothing, and was content in my ignorance of enjoying a Ghurka or other like smokes. NOW though you guys came along, well I guess I did technically, and now I have filled up my 150, first starting with large samplers now doing 5ers, and I have stuff that wont fit. SOOOO many times lately I have had to close my computer and walk away to stop myself from making a purchase that I dont need (already have a 5er of something that havnt even tried yet, and about to by 10 more for Joes Jambalaya on CI). At least I guess my knee jerk buys are 5ers and not boxes. IN ADDITION, now I keep feeling the need to get another 5 pack of all theses things everyone says are great, even though realistically it will take forever for me to smoke the ones I already have..... Oh well, guys Ill just need to start bombing new guys with some of the left over sampler smokes I have..... So sorry for rambling....but thanks for all the knowledge and help, but also CURSE YOU!!!!

Ha ya thanks, I read it right when I signed on here. I remember reading and wondering "those people must have real issues...". Luckily as I said I have not done the boxes, and dont think I will cause then the wife would catch on... Money issues isnt the problem, it is more the buying what is not needed...and knowing it will just sit around.

Hahaha. I do the same thing. I've set a budget & I stick with it though. Very slippery slope, kinda how coffee roasting was when I first started out. Take solace in knowing you're not alone, brother...

Hahaha! Same thing happened to me. I joined the forum with 1 "100" humidor, which filled pretty quickly and now I got another humidor, which is pretty much filled. Stopped buying since budget and space won't let me!

just remember, all you need to roll here is to ENJOY cigars. hoarding them is a temptation (ask my wife!), but look for what you enjoy, expand your horizons SLOWLY and at a pace that works for you, and ask questions at every step. someone here will stup up and answer.

It's a really fun hobby with a lot of interesting aspects to it. It seems like so many of us go through the very same cycles. You start out slowly, buying a few here and there. Then you find samplers and start buying those. Eventually you move to 5 packs of the same cigar, and then boxes come into the picture. For a lot of people, myself included, something like a chat forum or a podcast connect you to a cigar world that is much larger than what you had been part of. I went from randomly visiting B&M's, to suddenly looking for specific cigars. There is so much information you start taking in on all the goodies out there, that you are hunting for more and more. Of course, it doesn't help that most of us are guys and we like buying shiny new toys. I think most of us hit a point where we go into hoarding/collector mode and buy a lot more than we need, and often it becomes quantity over quality. Then you realize you are buying cigars you don't intend to smoke, and start looking for 5ers or boxes of what you love the most. After the rapid collection expansion sinks in-you are either hooked and go baller crazy for years to come, or find your happy medium.

As mentioned above-the Fiscal Responsibility is a great thread. Everybody has their own point of what is acceptable spending for a luxury hobby. Don't get yourself in trouble with it, but have fun along the ride ( =

Here Here! This place is great, and full of great folks. However, I agree it can be such a temptation to read reviews or how you guys rave about some cigar, and think I really need to try that, then I realize I have about 100 other sticks I need to work through before I buy more... The good news is I have learned to exercise a bit of self control and basically stay away from any online stores until I have smoked at least 10 cigars since my last purchase... at least that is my plan for now...

I've given in I'm not fighting it anymore! As long as the bills are paid! I just bought a sixer and the was like damn i like these too so i bought a box yesterday and today i was like well shit i like these too so i bought another box! When these get in im going to have to start looking at a winedor. I'm thinking tax time is coming soon it can be a late x-mas present to myself lol.

I thought I was sensible, I joined, I read and followed the advice and bought a 7 drawer humi. Sorted I thought I'll never fill this. 6 months later I bought a 6 ft high cabinet and a trunkador. 2years later and everything is full and I need another humi or I need to smoke more !

Ha thanks guys. Yea I def have some the first samplers I bought (before I knew better from T(#^@*@) Cigars) and do hope to bomb some new guys with those (dont want to insult FOG with those). Luckily after the initial samplers, the 5ers have been good moderate sticks (still have not gotten and Ligas (I know a crime) nor Tatuaje (javajunkie hooked me up with some though). The 5ers have been diesels, MOWs, MUWAT, Black Market, Obsidian etc... So ones I know I will like and dont cost to much, but still when added up come to alot more than I need. I am looking at getting other storage options though.

Dude..when T52s come available again they are a must have amazing smoke and tons of it. I like it better than the undercrown even though they are great too.
