Challenges with our baby

Hi brothers,

I'd like to ask that you keep my wife and me in your thoughts and prayers right now. As some of you know, my wife is pregnant with our first child.

We had a scan about five-six weeks ago that showed some potential genetic abnormalities. We did further tests that ruled out some of the worst possibilities, but it did turn up some odd features on one of the chromosomes.

Could be just fine, or could mean a lot of different problems from minor to very serious. Please keep us in your prayers -- we are committed to this child (a son) but it feels like every time we get some clarity it comes with a ton more questions about what could really be going on. It has been very frustrating.

Not to make light of the situation but you will worry about your childern all the time. It's funny how kids change you.

Thanks, that's how I'm trying to think of this too. No kid is "normal," and I'm happy he is on his way. Just hope he can be reasonably healthy even if there are other challenges (like mental ability, etc.).

You and your family will be in my thoughts. Keep a positive attitude if you can. I know someone who was actually told by doctors to consider aborting because of what they 'thought' could be wrong with the unborn baby. He didn't and everything turned out for the best; the kids are happy and healthy.

We lost him this morning. He was born very premature and lived two hours. We called him Jack (have been for a while), his given name is John.
