Ugly weather looks to be brewing across tornado alley for the weekend - Just wanted to say be safe everybody and keep your eyes on the sky.

It always amazes me that although we can predict storm risk at least in general terms of area and time, people are still caught off guard.

That time of year :ballbounc. The rain has been flooding out some streets here in Joplin, but other than that hasn't been bad at all so far *knocks on wood*.

I'm going to be travelling back to minnesota from Bloomington IL in about 1/2 hour. Looks like I should be out of harm's way though according to the weather channel.

Thanks for the heads up man!!

51 should be a breeze the whole way. Don't get caught staring at the wind farms!!

Quotes like this make me crazy:

Five people, including two children, died from injuries related to a suspected tornado in the northwest Oklahoma town of Woodward early Sunday morning, said Amy Elliott of the state Medical Examiner's Office.

Woodward Mayor Roscoe Hill said 37 people were injured, including several critically, in the storm that struck the town shortly after midnight.

"This thing comes in the middle of the night. It caught us asleep, mostly" Hill told CNN.
Christ sakes...they've only been saying for an ENTIRE day that these tornado-producing storms are coming. What do you mean it caught you asleep?

Not everyone is going to stay up all night worrying about the storms. If you're a heavy sleeper maybe you don't hear the sirens...or maybe you do and don't get up/around in time to get to safety. Shoot even if you do get in your bathroom (or wherever you go), doesn't necessarily mean you'll be safe. And just because the storms are headed your way doesn't mean you're going to have a tornado roll through. Could be the 20 miles away from you for all you know.
