BOTL.
June 23rd is going to be an extremely unique event at Casa de Montecristo in honor of the 7th anniversary of BOTL. I am really excited about this date and about spending time introducing you guys to Willy Herrera. He is one of the kindest, most down to earth fellas I have ever met and absolutely lives for premium cigars.
Willy has been living in Esteli, Nicaragua since he came on board as a member of Drew Estate in June, 2011. He has been working with the entire Drew Estate team, including Nicholas Melillo and Steve Saka, Louis and Jessenia, and hosts of other unknown legends and blenders from the factory floor. All along this journey, Willy has proved to be a gentleman of the highest caliber, treating everyone at the factory as special, right down to the women who sweep the floors and clean the coffee cups.
Willy has been working with scores of different tobaccos from Nicaragua, Honduras, DR, Brazil, Ecuador and is finally pinpointing a blend direction, although nothing is finalized yet. Each week, it seems as though he changes his mind in selecting that final final one. I know the feeling all so well. I can say with certainty that it is extremely rare for a person to take this long and be this intense in determining what will be the first blend from any given factory. He has driven all of us completely crazy - but always with a smile.
This post has little to do with the taste of his blends or the combination of tobaccos that Willy ultimately selects, and everything to do with a testament to the quality of person I have got to know over the past year in Nicaragua. And this is why I will be personally introducing him to the fellas at the BOTL 2012 on June 23rd at Casa de Montecristo.
In addition to the first time having official RATZILLAS for sale (not too many I'm afraid), we will have some other goodies for the BOTL to enjoy as our gifts. I am so looking forward to this event - with friends and BOTL family ...!
Very best,
JDrew
