Tried one today. Expected to not enjoy it due to its strength. Nubbed it! Excellent smoke and far more balanced then I expected. Started out peppery, then mellowed into a rich somewhat sweet flavor bomb. Bottom line... Gonna get more.

NHC has really got it going on with their exclusives... ELOs, Limitadas and now Surrogates.

Agreed. I've had a few of the Skull Breaker, and really really enjoyed it. Hoping NHC gets the Little Monsters in, cos I'll just get a box of surrogates when I buy the Tats.
Edit: I had to end mine with about an inch left, as It was getting way too hot. There's probably a bunch of contributing factors to that, but I reckon I could single it down to my inexperience, and fast smoking rate...

I guess I'll try the Bone Crusher & Skull Breaker again. The first and second time I smoked them, I didn't like them. The first time was ROTT for both. The second time was after NHC revealed who made them... I'll attempt to get these through trade because I don't feel comfortable making a purchase. Sorry about the honesty.

Just curious but what didn't you like about them?
I remember my exact impression of the skull breaker since I took notes. These thoughts date back to 9/17/11 when they were ROTT. I'll paraphrase my notes: "Starts off with a lot of spice with a weird dirty pepper taste profile that reminds me of the Viaje Zombie but with more spice. Second and final third have more of same taste profile, but some cocoa in the final third. The cigar isn't very complex. Didn't enjoy taste profile."

I didn't take notes the second time I smoked it but remember enjoying it slightly more, but wasn't very impressed.

Maybe I smoked a bunch of duds. :peace:

Baitfish are excellent. Highly recommend them
To each his own, i didn't like the baitfish fresh. Gave it some time, and it got better.

I knew that the Skull Breaker was going to get better, and sure enough it definitely did!

Maybe it's just me, but Pete ate Andre's lunch with that blend!

IMO both are smoking really well right now. I liked them fresh when they were really in your face, but I also like them now a little mellowed down. Almost like two different cigars, and really they are not very old to go through such a change.

Personally, I don't think you can compare these to the baitfish except in the way of nicotine. The flavors are completely different from the bone crushers I have had.

Maybe I'm just biased since the baitfish is a damn near perfect cigar for me, aaaand I didn't like the bone crushers very much. They seemed unbalanced and had a tar taste no-matter how many times I purged or re-cut the cap. Maybe I'll smoke up the last one I have to see what some age has done.
