Pains me to bring this up, but I'm getting increasingly despondent. Illusione core line has been my favorite regular production NC since my first CG4 years ago. Others tempt me from time to time, but I always come back to the Illusione. Increasingly, however, I've had more and more problems with construction. It has probably been a year since I've had two perfectly burning Illusiones in a row. Doesn't seem to matter if I pick one up in B&M and smoke it there, or of the interwebs ROTT, or after months of rest. Please tell me I'm the anomally and not to give up on these. A good burning CG4 is just about the perfect cigar. But, lately, I'm considering leaving them......if I can.

Out of the last six or seven I've had at least three had construction issues. It's the only reason I don't buy more.

They aren't burning well lately for me either. Dry boxed, rested, or ROTT, they just haven't been doing it for me. Sad to see but maybe that's why there was talk of him using a factory in Nica for certain newer releases (I don't know the specifics on that though). Maybe Raices Cubanas has been putting too much effort into Alec Bradley since the #1 rating they got..

CG4s are a regular in my rotation. The ones I'm smoking now I've had for about a year. I think 1, maybe 2 in 5 have had draw issues being too tight.

I have only smoked an abundance of the petite sizes, all of which have been perfect or just a few touch ups. Maybe my vendor has been sitting on some old ones, or perhaps the construction issues only plight the larger cigars. If this ends up being a trend, I'm going to be very sad, illusiones are in my every day rotation

Around Christmas I had two MK's. The first burned OK the first 1/3 then I couldn't keep the second 1/3 lit to save my life. I chalked it up to being too humid. Put the other I had in a dry box for a few days before smoking, but it did the same thing. Pitched them both halfway through as they tasted like shit after repeatedly needing to be re-lit. I have not revisited an Illusione since as I was a bit put off by the experience.

CG4 is one of my all time go to cigars as well. I have a few with 2 years and a little less than a box with 1. I have been thinking of picking up another soon. I usually let them rest a year. Hopefully that helps, but bad construction is bad construction. I hope your experience is an anomaly.

My Illusione are fine (MJ12, Cruzado, cg:4, La Grande Classe, Epernay). Hopefully it's just an anomaly. It's the only brand that I box buy without sampling. I did read that Raices Cubanas had some quality control issues, which may explain my Viaje problems.

Hopefully it's just a little bad luck. Although the last time I was at the BM the boxes of Illusiones they had were the spongiest cigars I've ever felt. I had intended to buy a few and I picked up 4 or 5 of them and put every single one back. I go to this store a lot and I've never had a problem with any of their cigars before.

No problems with the regular line, but nothing but problems with the epernay line. Just to loosely packed. V cut = lose draw, guillotine = loose draw. Had about four from different sources, all the same

I haven't had many of the core line lately, but the Ultra line, that's another story. I smoke a lot of the Epernay line as well, and have not had any issues.

The Ultras I have purchased (aside from MK Ultras) have been almost unsmokeable. But because I pay so much for them, I fight through it. If it were a 2 dollar stick, I would've pitch them.

Wow, this is the first I've heard. I haven't bought Illusione in a while, the last ones I bought were right when the maduros came out(and they're still resting)...but this doesn't sound good.

Simian, I going to be bet that you'll be OK. I can't recall a single bad Ultra. Or, Maduro or Epernay, for that matter. All my issues are with the white-banded core lines, especially CG4 and MK.

Normally, construction issues are a rarity when it comes to my cigars. As a matter of fact, I'm at the Airport on my way to Nica/Hondo. I will hand deliver this thread and we will make sure they get what you guys are saying. As ALWAYS with my cigars, if you ever have issues in the future, please take them back to your place of purchase. All AUTHORIZED illusione retailers should replace the affected product. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. This is my guarantee to you.

Best -

Dion.
