Ok, I dont want to open up the "you buy it too smoke it" debate; I understand that you buy cigars to smoke them and I agree with that statement.... mostly.

But,

I was looking through the humidor the other day and was finding myself looking at sticks to smoke, and deciding not too. But I got to a few that I have been saying the same thing for a few years and it got me thinking....

Does anyone have sticks in the humi that they really don't plan on smoking? Or have over-looked/ decided not too... for years?

I had an Opus "A" from 1999 that my buddy had to steal, cut, light and place in front of me to smoke... I was livid, but appreciated it about 2 hours in haha.

Any similar stories or thoughts?

For me it's my boxes of Cohiba 2006 EL and Monte Sublimes. I have given and sold quite a few but for some reason, I have never smoked either one. In my head I can't justify smoking a $35 cigar but I have no problem giving away a $35 cigar away... Something wrong with that statement.

Nothing that I can say I will never smoke but did split a Fuente 22 box this year and probably wont smoke those for awhile.

I will also be picking up some black orchids this weekend that will sit for awhile. Although it is a great smoke even at $55

Eddie you hit exactly what I was getting to on the head... you deserve a prize haha.

Ive been passing up some ISOM that are in the early 00's range for YEARS, as well as newer stuff that I want to try so bad and cant bring myself too (Cohiba Pirimides) but I have no problem trading them away for stuff.

apparently we share the same senseless boat haha

Only cigar I can think of was my JD4. I recently gave it away to a good BOTL who I'm sure will smoke it and appreciate it.

I don't really have anything I will not smoke because it is too special, but i have a container full of cigars I won't smoke because I don't care for them. Most came in some kind of trade or another, or stuff I bought that I thought I would like but ended up not caring for.

I have 2 Cohíba Genios Maduro 5. I am not smoking them until 1 I get married May 2014 and the other the day my first child is born.
I've had 2 of them before and absolutely enjoy them and so I thought these cigars were amazing enough that I would save them until those 2 special days.

I have 2 Partagas Gigantas (NC) in my "everyday" smokador from a 3 pack sampler I got for free after a Famous Smoke purchase. I gave one to my brother who has more spare time than I do. I will probably never smoke them just because they are too large for me. If anyone wants them, you can have them.

Other than that, I think anything in my humidors are fair game.

I tend to buy HTF stuff and trade away 3/4 of the box smoke a couple, and gift a few Don't know what it is. I'm constantly passing up churchills just because they are to much cigar for me usually.

No. Honestly, if I ever came across a Por Larranaga Magnifico or such legendary cigar it would be smoked within a year assuming they are ready.

Only smokes in my humi that are offlimits for now are my two Opus As. And that is only because they will be my celebration smoke when I have children.

If you don't smoke them someone else will.... or your family won't know what to do with them and they'll dry up and eventually be thrown out. Smoke them, trade them, bomb them, but find the occasion to make sure they're enjoyed.

See but after that year you would hesitate and say, "Well its been in here this long, maybe next year" haha

I think you have something that is more tabacciana and not meant to be smoked at that point. I have cheap ones that i tried and were dog rockets that i keep for when i got drunk friends over demanding a cigar.
