Her boyfriend called me last month to ask permission to marry my daughter. And that is one of the many reasons I like this young man. They live in Ohio and he wanted to ask her while they were down here with me and my side of the family ( my ex lives in Ohio too) so he asked her tonight while they were walking on the beach. Poor guy was a nervous wreck before they went to dinner. He looks pretty relieved now.
And now I am nervous as heck for some reason...anyone else been through this?

Congrats Curtis....A new son-in law!

Sounds like a respectful young guy if he asked your permission first.

Does he like cigars? if not maybe you can introduce him Never hurts to have a family member you can smoke with. :eyebrow:

I have not been through this yet but the day will probably be coming sooner rather than later. My daughter is 29 and does not appear to be headed to the alter anytime soon. My son is kind of young (21) but is pretty serious with his current girlfriend. Hopefully that won't happen for at least a couple of years. That's not quite the same as giving up your little girl though. My heart goes out to you.

Thanks everyone, and yes Rupe, he is just starting to get into cigars. I bought him a few and a starter humidor last year. So far he has pretty good taste, told me yesterday he liked the Baitfish I gave him awhile ago.

Congrats, brother. And, no, I will never go through this. My daughters will never date or marry, they will remain home and nurse me and their mother until we are dead and gone and then remain celibate as they will be too busy pursuing PhDs and claiming Nobel Prizes.

Congrats! Sounds like a good guy. Getting him into cigars is great too. Something in common and a bond. Thats always a good thing. My daughter is 7 and I am going to read ATL's post to her in the morning so she knows what's in her future :D

Once again, Adam takes the words out of my mouth...

Congrats on the new addition to the family, and the success of raising your daughter so that she knew how to pick a winner of a man, and not a looser of a boy. It says a lot about the parenting that went into making her who she is today, and who she will become down the road.

Congratulations Curtis! I'm guessing that its normal to be nervous. As a father of two daughters, I'm not sure that I'm ever going to look forward to them getting married...maybe being married but the ceremony itself will tear me up!

He sounds like a stand-up young man. Good for you and your daughter.

Congrats!

Congratulations brother! It is refreshing to see a young person show respect. I know it made you feel special from experience.
