So I don't have any tattoos, and I decided to go without one for a while longer...

I've had this design for a piece in mind for a long time, and decided a couple months ago to get it as a scarification piece instead. A friend introduced me to a local artist, and after seeing his profile I was sold.

This is what I had done yesterday.

First outline pass

Second pass

I'm certainly familiar... Fakir was the scarification guru and at a time I planned to take his course out in Cali. There are several ways to do it... That looks like a scalple, no? Pretty ambitious for someone without tattoos as it's not a very common practice outside the MP community...

The only people who I know with scarification have told me awful, horrible things about the after "care" procedures to make sure they stay looking good. Things like constantly agitating them with scrubbing, lemon juice, etc.

Glad it went well, man. add some ink soon!

interesting, but I think I'd stick with the traditional tattooing - if I had any where left to put one. Although I do like the Vonnegut reference. He's my all-time favorite author.

whats the significance of "so it goes." to you?
Just FYI, that's typically a very uncouth question to ask people about their tattoos and other body art.
I've been a tattoo artist for 20 yrs and I've asked people what and why. So what do you mean by uncouth? Just curious since I can't recall one person that wasn't willing to say, and most with enthusiasm.

I had to look up what the end results would be on google. It pretty much had the end result I was thinking it would. It is a cool primitive concept given new life.

hmm, i wouldn't have known that either. My wife has a few tats and never has an issue if people ask her about them.
I have an entire sleeve and other visible tattoos on my other arm and both lower legs. I absolutely hate it when people ask me about them. "Why did you get that...what does that mean...what does this represent to you." I guess I was kind of asking for it by having so many visible tattoos, but I didn't get them for other peoples enjoyment, or want any kind of recognition. Keep your questions to yourself, or just say "hey nice ink." I'm never rude when people ask me about them, and most people are very nice when they do ask questions, do I really don't like it. That's my .02

Anyways, that scarification looks awesome. I'm really interested to see how it heals and how the healing process goes. I've never thought about getting something like that, but I do kinda want a brand!

The guy I went to has done over 3000 procedures and during his aftercare briefing he told me ABSOLUTELY DO NOT rub any irritants such as lemon juice. He gave me an anti microbial soap/lotion to wash it with 3-6 times per day for the first week and told me to keepit in Saran Wrap

The lemon juice does absolutely nothing to improve scarring or healing and he stopped implementing it in his aftercare after his first couple hundred procedures.

I dunno how much you guys wanna know about the history, This might not make much sense unless you're familiar with Vonneguts novel Slaughter House V.

Unless its an artist I dont really like to be asked about my ink either. I have a very controversial back piece that I have for my own reasons but it always leads to debate when I show it. Almost nobody knows I have a back piece, even some of my besties.
