Flu Shots

Who gets them every year?

They are coming by my work tomorrow and I'm wondering whether I should sign up.

I used to get it yearly, and then there was the "shortage". While I could have had it administered by my girfriend, I opted out for the sake of the children, elderly, etc. I guess I was just having one of those "for the good of everyone else" days that I have once or twice a year.

Expect that it is going to feel a little "funny" (read: stings like crap) and that you may feel a little "off" (read: like you're starting to get the flu) for a day or two. I didn't get the flu - like symptom so much but others I know didn't feel to well for a little while afterward. It wasn't bad, and certainly better than getting the flu. Damn I hate the flu.

I am one of those "high-risk" people, well pretty much I had asthma growing up so they say that I am more likely to get it

In actuality, if the coming bird flu pandemic ever comes to fruition, those groups of people may actually fare better than the younger / stronger generations. The situation may be quite similiar to the worldwide flu that killed millions in the 1920's.

i get one every year, ive got asthma, so the flu can really really kick my ass. i came down with it when i was in 7th or 8th grade and spend a week and a half in bed, ended up missing close to 3 weeks of school. ive gotten one (almost) every year since and havent really had any more flu issues

I never get the flu shot and every year some old woman sneezes in my face or a child puts a booger finger in my eye. I have had the flu for 5 years running now. I am no longer stubborn. I will get it.

I used to get the shot, but I still got the flu every year. When there was a shortage a few years ago I did not get the shot and did not get the flu. Since then I have not gotten the shot and have not had the flu. So for me I stay away from the flu shot.

Definitely makes sense for a Doc to get it
