Rocky Patels are some of my favorite cigars! Does that make me the guy at Ruth's Chris who puts ketchup on his steak?

I almost hate to say it, but I don't think Gurkhas are all that bad either...

Am I getting banned now?
Smoke what you like! The RP 15th anniversary is among my favorite sticks. Most of the lack of enthusiasm for the RP brand is because RP himself is a douche.

Because of cost or enjoyment?
He pays full retail at B&Ms...

I've told him a hundred times if he is gonna smoke RP or Gurkha to buy online.. He won't listen...

So cost isn't the issue..

He just likes them...

that might sound funny to some of you guys, but they don't sell ghurka or rocky patel in Canada. At least, I have never seen any. Or acid. Or Tatuaje for that matter. or drew estate.

I have a hard time understanding some of the brand bashing and fanboys action that's going on...

Naw, the cigars just aren't very good...
I lost respect for the brand after it surfaced that they literally dyed their wrappers to make them "maduro".
Don't know if they still do, but that deception was enough to make me not want to buy anything from them again.
There is a great thread here somewhere that covers the RP smearing and an article from Steve Saka explaining the huge difference between actual, quality Maduro wrappers, and those that fall waaaaay short.

The issue with gurkha is the "msrp" of many of their sticks is high as hell, and they never sell for that amount. 95% of them are also mediocre at best. The issue with rocky patel was explained by Clint in the post above. The issue with drew estate isn't necessarily their smokes, though for some it is, but it's their marketing of limited editions.

Thanks.

Are ghurka really bad?
Like, cheap sub-par cigar bad, or more like wanabe high end cigar that failed bad?
We have sub-par cigars here. A lot. Most of the less than 7$ sticks are dog rockets around here: buy at your own risk. I once smoke one that had its draw loose as a straw. Might have been good otherwise.

So far most of the unobtainable-up-north sticks that I managed to get were plaisant. I want to keep it that way ;)

More like cheap, but want to charge as if high end. The msrp of a stick could be 15 bucks, but check online and you could probably get it for 3 bucks or less.
