Never had scotch before but being a special occasion figured why not. Did not want to jump all the way to the high end of the spectrum just in case. Had A glennfiddich 12 year. I think I am a scotch person now.

It was a toss up between the Chivas and Glenlivet---I choose the Glenlivet. It was my first bottle of Scotch ever. Pretty smooth stuff
I had the same choices. I figured my dad used to drink Chivas so I would see what it was all about. Enjoy yours.

When we talk about beverages or what goes best with cigars tends to go in a lot of different directions only because our tastes tend to be different. Experimentation is something that I like to do esp. when it involves pairing a drink with a cigar because I choose a few different ones that really makes the cigar taste so much better...at least to me. I tend to want a cigar that has a long finish to it as it holds the flavor much longer...isn't that what we want in the first place? Also some drinks will help "cool" the smoke when it hits the tissues and keeping it on the tongue a bit longer increases the taste value instead of dealing with the heat from the smoke. Drinks that have a 'coating' to it like Baileys or Amarula can significantly help the overall taste as it acts like an insulator esp. if you're one of those who tend to draw more than others and keep the cigar stoked. Scotch is one of those drinks that are popular with a lot of folks and I like drinking Drambuie because it enhances the taste of any cigar and since it has a sweet taste to it it compensates for those times a cigar can get a bit nicotine heavy...the sweetness tames it down and keeps one from getting overwhelmed by the nicotine kick.
