OK, I liked a whole bunch of out of state B&M tobbaconist pages as well as one's I've visited in the past. One that I'm assuming purchased ticket's for the Drew Estate Cigarfari is The Maduro Room I believe from Lexington, South Carolina.

My question to the BOTL's is has anyone gone or know how to get in on this???? I for one would LOVE to go. It's on my bucket list as is plenty of other things....but seeing pics on facebook of a trip made me think of it again.

I wasn't 100% sure if this fit here or elsewhere, but wanted to play it safe here in the general discussion board as I'm still a newbie here...

Many of us, myself included, have been on Cigar Safari. There are two way to go.

1 - On a store trip. This is as simple as finding a store that goes and getting on their list.

2 - Buying an open ticket. Each year DE opens sales for the next year. It sells out very very quick though so you just have to be ready to buy the second the tickets open.

Either way that price of the ticket will run you around 5-600 I think and airfare usually around the same.

I would also love to go on their Cigar Safari. It looks like 2015 is already sold out. I noticed that BOTL did a trip in 2014.

From the pictures I saw it looked like such a great time. I think the worst part of it all was all the connecting flights to get to and from Nicaragua.

Maybe there can be another one arranged in the future! I'd love to go.

It only requires one connection (MIA) from where I am (DC area) and flights can typically be had for about $400.

It was one of the best trips I've ever taken in my life. The free smokes are nice and certainly so is the weather, but the education portion was what really made it. I learned so much about the entire industry from farm to B&M… it was amazing.

One thing though. Having spoken with JD if you do go make sure you get on the "right" trip. Some trips cater more to the Cigar Geek who want to see the entire process and truly understand tobacco. While other groups may like their cigars they are really there just to party and the education part gets rushed over.

From Chicago is a quick trip to Miami and then on a plane to Managua!

It would be great to be able to add a couple of days to visit Padron as well. You know, since we'd be down there anyway. ;)
I actually stayed an extra few days down there when I went. I spent time at Oliva, My Father and Romacraft.

The thing with this though is you will need a hotel (and they are a step down from your safari lodging), a good grasp of Spanish (most can't speak English) and contacts at the other facilities.

Most places you can't just walk in and visit. Pardon is almost impossible to get into. (I had a contact but they weren't in while I was there)

Spanish would definitely be a challenge for me. Perhaps hiring a guide/translator would be best? I'm not sure what is available, since I've just begun doing research.

I wasn't sure what was possible, but My Father also sounds great. I'd be happy with just the Safari, but I'd prefer to add on my items if possible. I'll start researching the options.

I am pretty sure they are pretty much all booked up this year, a friend told me he got one of the last spots. They may have some reserved or something. It doesn't seem like we see much from them anymore.
