Had a homerolled earlier this evening. Very happy with the construction on this one. Turned out great. It was super peppery right off the bat but calmed down after about 10 minutes. I only have one of this roll session left. I'll try to wait a while before smoking it, but I don't think I'll actually hold out too long. I need to roll more and more often so that I get some with a month or two on them!

I am now smoking a Diesel Hair of the Dog. I did not like this at all the first time I smoked one a couple months ago. It's better now, but not very exciting still.

The same problem I have. I find myself wanting a home roll more than anything most of the time and keep giving the damn things away. One day I will have well aged stock on hand... It was mainly leather, cream, cocoa, pepper, and coffee. There was a nice aromatic sweetness that seemed to alternate between fruit and berry. It wasn't constant, but came and went often enough to pique my interest. You can get an "Epicure" (petite robusto) for $5.40. For that price I can't think of a better Nicaraguan puro on the market. It had a little bit of that Nicaraguan bite early on, but it disappeared in less than a quarter of an inch. It was a smooth and flavorful medium body smoke that seemed a little stronger because of the dark flavor profile. I can only think of two cigars in the $5.40 price range I rather have and neither is a Nicaraguan puro. So, it is purely a matter of preferring something with more variety in the tobaccos used. If you're a fan of Nicaraguan puros picking up a few singles to test out is a no brainer.
With fresh rolled I find that two weeks is the sweet spot unless you want to wait more than a month or two. That is just my experience and preference.
