I have been wanting to try that to see how much flavor if any my wrapper is adding.
A good bit but not the whole 90% BS you hear people say. Try it out it's a good way to try filler varieties on their own or to just mess around with different pairings. As long as you don't get the leaf too moist they smoke fine.

Anyone else hooked on cheroots? Been smoking them right off the table lately messing with different filler ratios. One of these days I'll have to start wrapping again lol.
Haven't tried that yet, I probably should. I have so many test blends right now my head hurts thinking about it.

I take the same filler blend and wrap it with several different wrapper leaves. I agree that it doesn't contribute 90% of the flavor, but it is eye opening to see how different a stick is with a different wrapper. Hell, even adding a half leaf of seco and cutting back a half leaf of viso makes a huge difference.

Just wait... I have blown past loving the hobby and am now full blown addicted. Over the last two weeks I have probably averaged rolling about 5 sticks a day...

You can't see the ones in the lower boxes or the ones resting in the drybox. Knocked out 9 more today in the mold bombed to me by @daleo8803
These looks awesome! It's been cool to watch your progress over the months. Keep it up and let us know if you end up selling any.

@BrewinHooligan this is awesome, you're seriously inspiring me of maybe doing my own rolls in the near future. Keeping a bit more of an eye on this thread... :)
Same here. Been watching this thread for quite a while, just haven't piped up at all yet. You're doing fantastic brother, a true artist, and some of your blends sound absolutely delicious. Keep it up.

Wrapped them up tonight, they look pretty decent, very toothy wrapper, do you guys roll down the veins before wrapping?

Also, my first attempt at the triple cap

I really need the chunk of copper pipe to cut those circles out lol

Looking good! I use the handle of the kitchen shears I use to trim my bunches to flatten the veins. I use a tube of Chapstick or a glue stick to cut my caps currently. Whatever works!

Well... Operation lancero took a shit. Tried to smoke one last night but it was plugged to hell and no matter what I tried I couldn't fix it. I gave up after about an inch. What I could manage to draw and taste was promising though. Part of me wants to give up on these, but my stubborn side won't let me. I need to try a few more and see if they all have issues

I used a rolling pin to flatten the veins. I found it made a big difference.
Also, make sure you wrap with the smooth side of the leaf out. One side has the veins protruding more than the other side.

What bunching technique are you using?

So the east coast is getting pounded with this winter storm and I get a day off... which means I got to do a couple more sticks! :D I'm getting much more consistent bunches, however the foot feels a little loose in most of them. If it's really a problem when I go to light them, I might just slice off the end and keep going. I rolled out the veins with a beer bottle and the wrappers look so much better. In addition, they were easier to shape and work with.

Xikar makes an excellent tuck cutter, but I like the shaggy foot look too.

And my triple cap is starting to take shape too. I traced a quarter with the pizza cutter and it worked pretty well for the final circle.

And finally, my favorite one of the day, the very last one. The binder looked terrible on the bunch, but the wrapper makes all the blemishes vanish.

I have been using the book method and with a few minor issues here and there have been pretty successful with it. This was the first time I had something so plugged I couldn't salvage which is crazy to me since this didn't use a mold. Maybe my filler was too wet when I bound it. In order to roll these without forming I did bunch and bind tight as hell. This is probably the point where I need to bunch entubado and see if it helps.

Agreed. Although entubado is pretty difficult. Props if you can pull it off clean. Accordion bunch might actually get more air flow with the small rg. Try rolling one with each technique and figure out which draws best.
