Query: I have a tupidor (newbie) and I sent my buddy Groucho a picture. He asked me what was the cedar-like sticks after telling me to take them out of the plastic sleeves. Is it okay to use the cedar sticks from the cigar boxes? 20160221_182517.jpg 20160221_182417.jpg 20160221_182417.jpg 20160221_182517.jpg

First the question of In the sleeves out of the sleeves... I prefer to leave them in. It protects wrapper and does not impact the RH at all. Second question. what type of wood is in there? If its Spanish Cedar, then your good. If it "Cedar" then that's not good.

I'll leave the others to discuss your size.

Thanks for responding. I had insleeve, but took out because friend Groucho said take out, did so. But, after your comment I placed them back (especially since I received them like that).

Re the type of cedar, don't know. They were whatever came out of the cigar boxrs. I thought they'd have a positive effect. Since I don't know, I have removed. Thanks.

Any other suggestions?

If those came out of cigar boxes. then they are Spanish cedar.. your find. My advice, stop listening to your friend, he seems to have more suggestions than good advice.

@knw247 One last request? Can you educate me on the purpose the cedar stick accomplish when placed in the cigar boxes. I would appreciate the reasoning behind doing this particular action if you know.

Thanks in advance.

Spanish cedar will not taint the cigars with an extra odor and will help maintain the humidity. That's why cigar humidors and boxes are lined with it,

Still waiting for that introduction in the intro thread, sir.

Unfortunately my wife often steals my cigar boxes to make crafts :banghead:

So when I get to keep a box, I use it for storage! They're perfect!
