Picked up a handful of Las Mareas at the Crowned Heads event in Chattanooga last night after talking with @JonHuber about how the cigar came to be. This particular stick is the Olas and is impressive indeed. Leather, earth, cedar, light chocolate, dark caramel sweetness, Pepin pepper on the retro, toasted nuts and even a bit of that "twang thang" all going on here. This is an ever evolving medium plus body, full flavored cigar that is very complex in flavor with several very distinct transitions. From the picture you can see that ash looks very similar to the dirty charcoal, flaky ash you normally see on Cubans. I had heard that this smoke was Cubanesque and I have to agree. It's the closest I have found to some regular production CC's. BTW the burn and construction were both excellent. When available this will be a box purchase for me. I think you will want to try this one if you like those Cubans. It's not Cuban but it's pretty dang close in some aspects.

Finished brewing 10gal of strong scotch ale and now tinkering in the garage finishing up converting a cooler @BenS bombed me to a mash tun to make bigger beers. This is a tweaked version of my marshmallow blend, swapping criollo ligero for the Dominican ligero I usually use and wrapped in Ecuadorian Habano instead of PA broadleaf. It's got a real spicy retro and I'm digging it.
