Mailed off my last posting for the year... it was a good year... productive and evolving. I learned a ton about people and the morphing that is taking place socially in the cigar industry... some very good and some not so good at all... but ... the leaf lives on and just as in any industry there are angels and demons and everything in between... we are the rollers... we serve at the will of them all. I look forward to 2018... it's a power year... the number 11 is one of the most powerful numbers existing... if you are going to make a power move... this is the year to do it in. I plan something special on 11-11-2018(aka 11). What ever it is that awaits me, I know I will greet it fearlessly and with a healthy appetite... ready to devour and to reproduce and yes... ever so provocatively and with all the dazzling flare bestowed upon me! AS IF I'd do less lol! I wish you all peace... when desired... strength... when required... hope... when inspired and love ... especially when tired or alone. I wish you wisdom, grace and the faith necessary to manifest the greatest version of who YOU are... unmatched and intrinsically unique... ass hole and all. :angelic::kiss::sneaky: 2017... sayonara MFer!~REMilano

After talking Aripiraca I had to pull my triple ligero blend I had done a test stick wrapped in that leaf instead of the Mata Fina I usually use. It lacks the sweetness of the Mata Fina but it has a darker almost meatier flavor that compliments this full tilt blend very well. This ain't no baby ass stick, but it won't put you in the sick house either. Pairs extremely well with the Colorado whiskey I'm sipping.

Interesting color transitions in that wrapper. :)

The only problem I find with my triple ligero blend or even most of my blends: the bitterness/harshness/tar come out in last third more obviously than commercial sticks... Simply a problem of lack of aging? Or can be improved by adjusting blends?

I recommend not using the tips of the frog legs... the part closest to the base of the stem... all leaf is like a head of lettuce... the closer you get to the core the more bitter it gets. Tobacco is the same... I avoid putting in the last two inches of the leaf or any large stems that are close to the base of the center vein. ~xox

I will echo this. I usually leave the stem in my ligero, but on this blend I remove it for that reason.

I finally saved one for just over a year. It will be burnt on my way to a B&M I found while looking for the Archetype Dreamstate Bliss recommended not too long ago. This stick seems to be a "one-off" as it has no brethren on the shelf. It's 1.5 leaves Criollo ligero, 1.5 leaves Nic Habano seco wrapped in Ecuador Ligero.

I should let more of them sit for a year, this was a nice smoke, even lighting it up smelled awesome.20171231_124050.jpg

I will be torching the last commercial cigar in this house tonight, a Cuban Upmann. Tomorrow will be the first day ever that there has not been a commercial stick up in here. (I plan to bunch and roll four today while I watch footie so there will be a supply for next week). You are a blessed man if you can find that Archetype in that B&M. All the joints around here that supposedly stock them do not have any, while they do have the other Archetype cigars, none of which are remotely similar to the Dreamstate. And many online places have it as back ordered.

You are right, they don't have it. But I did get to smoke my yearling on the ride so all is well. Still a worthwhile trip.

No, because everyone who knows me knows I am the easiest person to shop for for holidays, birthdays, get-togethers, etc: cigars and whiskey, done.
One cool thing is that I have ended this year on a high note of own-cigar satisfaction, after 3 years of occasional pain, wandering, and failed adventures. So if I were limited to my own shiznitz I wouldn't be unhappy about my smoking life.

Just curious. What is the recipe for your high note ending of the year? Might save me three years of mistakes...
