One Year

One year ago today I joined this wonderful place and I just wanted to take a moment to thank all you amazing people. There would be no way for me to say something about each of you because I would most certainly forget someone and I don’t want to do that.

I’ll say this though, you have made a huge impact in my life, I couldn’t have imagined having such a close friendship with people over the internet but here we are! I’m looking forward to another year of friendship and having my storage challenged.

Once again thank you all!

To the noobs reading this; stick around this is an amazing place and as @navyvet said to me when I first joined “Welcome to the dumpster fire!”

It's crazy isn't it. My wife calls them "my fake internet friends" fake or not y'all are awesome, especially the members like the preacher. I honestly can't think of any other places on the interweb where there is so much blind acceptance, generosity and flat out love. It's definitely a brotherhood I'm proud to be a part of.

I’ve been here going on 3.5+ years. It’s a very good place. We don’t always have to agree on every smoke and most of us aren’t just enabling. People here share like no other place I’ve been, internet or not.

I do a wine forum. I’ve been on there for 11 years. I may take breaks, a lot. It’s been awhile since really enjoying too many NCs in a row, and during the past 13 mo this I dove deep into the pipe side.

What’s really fun, is that we have so much in common from booze to movies/television series and hobbies.

Much like my wine forum long termers, I would gladly meet up with anybody or drive a bit to enjoy a smoke with the people here.

There’s always something to learn or something to share. Even when the occasional brother or sister goes through something rough. Two years ago, I had a friend pass away from an unexpected heart attach. He was two years younger than me, but I enjoyed watching the Stanley Cup playoffs with him.

Our own bripper stepped in and I still look forward to emailing him during the battle for the cup. Another piper who know has gone, made me some great leather work but needed to focus on a wife with MS. I try to stay in touch with him.

Rondo and Chris80 came in about the same time. These are guys you would gladly set up an extra room for if they were traveling your direction.

If you are new. Hang around and feel the kinship we have here. It’s definitely special.

Whether our spouses/SO laugh about our forum/internet friends or not, their just as real and I’ve never had one borrow my tools and keep them forever or lend them to somebody else. That’s more than I can say for my friends in town or family.

Yeah, my cigar time has been cut way down lately. I’m working 10-14 hours a day, plus an hour each way of driving, and working weekends. Hope to change that soon!
