Last night I had to play "wing-girl" for my roommate. He was the older brother of the guy my roommate has been seeing. I owed her so I went along, even though I'm unsettled by in-door dining. Turns out he was 7 years older than me and a widower... wicked shocked. I wasn't sure how to act. I couldn't help thinking like, this man found his true love, tragically lost her, and now I'M sitting in front of him... But he was wicked sweet and a great date. I gave him my number, but really got the feeling he wasn't ready yet.

On the ride home, Spotify kicked this on and it's been in my head all day. I can't even understand marriage, let alone what it's like dating after becoming a widow / widower.

LOL @ Storytellers xD
I just have so much... respect for him, I think. I found out he was a widower on the drive there (thanks for the heads up, roomie) and no one said anything about it the whole night. It seemed like he was genuinely trying to have a good time... and succeeding. While I initially felt bad for him, it sorta turned into admiration.
BLAH I dunno. I'd normally be talking with my roommate, but she just texted she's still with that guy xD

Nah I get it. Things just not working out is one thing...but for things to be good and then boom...someone dies...that is just unfathomable. A primal sense of raw...loss. I've been immersed in existential pondering lately...happens around this age I suppose.

I never heard of that around a certain age. Sounds like you're just having some deep meaningful thinking.

Some dudes approach middle age with an ill-advised Corvette or an affair with a younger woman. Others jump off a proverbial cliff into a river of existential terror...trying to fight the inexorable current of time while gasping for meaning in a life seemingly geared toward grinding down the very essence of who they are. Potato po-tah-to. :ROFLMAO:

I openly admit to shedding the manliest of tears when I hear this song. Reminds me of my grandpa. He taught me how to shoot his .22 when I was around 12.

I haven't heard that name since I was in Texas back around 2007. I'm surprised he never got much national attention.
