After trying many short/petite cigars, I've only had a few that were really good. The Viaje Skull &Bones Daisy Cutter is my favorite. The Zino Nicaragua Short Torpedo, and CH Juarez Shots are really good as well imho. Anyhoo, I'm interested to here what your favs are, so I can try something new without wasting my $$$ on doggy turds. Thanks!

Black Works Studio Killer Bee hands down
I have some Killer Bees and I'm not impressed. I love the Green Hornet, but I don't get the same aromas with the Killer Bee. I think the only difference is candela vs connecticut, so they should taste pretty similar. I'll smoke another one this weekend and report back.

Padron 1964 Hermoso, natural wrapper. Still about $15 a pop, though.

I only have one problem with these smokes....What is the deal with the big stems in them??? Every one I've had has at least 3 stems.
The last 1926 I had, had 4 big stems and at $14 you'd think that wouldn't happen. Is this on purpose for some reason?

Not sure. Do you mean stems in the filler? I’ve heard that there are stems in the filler tobacco of many cigars, but I’ve never noticed them. Are they causing your smoke to burn too hot, or poorly?

I haven't noticed it being an issue, but I don't smoke them terribly often because of the price. Your luck with Padron may be like my luck with Black Works. The last three or four I smoked were not well constructed, but lots of folks swear by them.

Yep, the filler.
The burn is fine, I just don't want to smoke stems. I've had 6-8 dollar cigars with very small or no stems at all. This is why I'm confused.
Are the stems intentional?
I thought they were intentionally put there. I saw the same. Good cigars. I’ve read the nicotine is in the stems so I just figured that’s why they were there. The few I’ve had were stemmy. And looked like I could roll better. I like em. Just think they price them high enough each should be a total work of art.

I sent one of those ugly ducklings to a cbid buddy without a band. Little taste test challenge. To be fair he did guess it to be a high end padron.

I thought maybe the ones I got were just sorta mistakes. I bought two last time just for this test. Sent the uglier of the twoto him. Thought the appearance would help throw him off.

I don't recall where, but I think Saka was the one who explained why some premiums have stems.

Based on what you put down:

El Oso Cub. It's phenomenal, but kind of pricy. I don't smoke maduros anymore, but when I did it was hard to beat this one.
La Imperiosa Magicos
Dunbarton Mi Querida and Tricki Traca 448
Liga Privada Papas Fritas also used to be on my frequently-smoked list
Crowned Heads Jericho Hill OBS is just over in length and is like smoking a chocolate bar
Illusione Rothschild

Right now, I'm having a hard time finding stuff that hits right. I smoked a lot of H Upmann Half Coronas for a while. Now I'm out, and priced out of the CC market (if I could even find them, which I can't).

So, I'm enjoying:
-Guardians of the Farm Rambo
-AJ Last Call Chiquitas (huge pepper kick up front but settles down nicely)
-Curivari Buenaventura Mini BV
-Hererra Esteli Short Corona Corda
-Four Kicks, larger vitolas and just tossing when done
-Illusione Rex
