Prince - 1999
i was already a Prince fan when this came out in 1982 but had just left the retail record business to work for Sony. Never got a chance to really listen to it like his earlier albums.

Have no idea how I got this CD. Found it while cleaning out / organizing a box of discs. No disrespect but I’mma not into Gospel music so highly doubtful if I purchased it. If anything this is a demo CD but there aren’t any markings, punch holes, etc. that would indicate as such. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder make guest appearances so figured I’d give it a listen.

I had to go back and listen after Kendrick Lamar said, "the revolution will most definitely be televised."Wow! Haven’t listened to this since the early’70s!
I wonder if Gil Scott ever imagined something like Sunday night?
I’m sure GSH never ever thought that song would one day be referenced in the Super Bowl. One thing I’ll say, back in the day when the song was new, I thought it was gonna fuel the Black Power movement. Some pretty interesting times fo’ sure.
