Here's the reason...I (hopefully like most guys) get on these "kicks" as my wife calls them, i.e. cigars (although that kick has lasted several years :), reading, collecting horror movies, grilling, and now growing my own herbs. (Not those kind of herbs, Dave..:smokingme ) lol
I'm not planting a garden or anything, just planting some seeds in a couple of outdoor pots, so that we can get fresh: basil, tomatoes, and what not...

Am I alone here; do I need to trade in my Man Card :wtf:

I've always gotten on "kicks" myself.

'Course, never anything as gay as gardening. :grinFU:
Sick son of a bi@#!

You gotta man it up. "Gardening, Nah I just threw some seeds in a pot." :nodlaugh:

Wait until the morning Botls get a hold of this post, I'll get roasted! The guys at work are all over me!

Nothing beats fresh herbs in cooking, I do it too. Like Charlie said, there's "nothing wrong with growing stuff you can eat."

I had a pepper plant one time that I named Pedro.
It grew some good peppers. Then it got bugs so I threw it into the dumpster.

I think you can keep your man card as long as you don't get matching gardening clogs and apron.

I grow herbs in the summer and I find there is nothing better than a mojito with your own mint or some homemade salsa straight from the tomatoes and cilantro in your own garden.
Or maybe I need to trade in my man card as well....

Growing herbs really is something everyone should do, the flavor you get is so much better than those from the store.

I will give you a heads up that tomatoes can be a bitch, I also suggest growing some peas, cilantro, dill, chives, mint and oregano. The mint and oregano can be purchased in a plant store and then transplanted, they will come back every year. The peas, chives, dill and cilantro need to be replanted from seed every year.
I grow all of these things in pots, I also recommend getting a strawberry pot, it grows lots of strawberries for the real estate.

Best of luck.

Hey I'm with you Havana Joe. I get on kicks myself and my woman points them out. The cigars have been one of my kicks since 2000 and started before her.

Also as far as I'm concerned having a discriminating taste for fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables is no different than wanting good coffee and cigars. I fully plan on growing garlic, tomatoes, and herbs for myself. My parents used to grow tomatoes and no store can come close to the flavor of tomatoes from your own back yard. They're not hard to grow if you ask me. It just depends on how much work you want to put into them. We just let them grow on the ground and if some fell victim to pests, so be it. Just plant more so you have more to pick.

Garden on!

dude farming is how man sustained himself before we had desk jobs and if it wasn't for a man planting some wacky tobaccy seeds in the ground how would you smoke a cigar?

Man card intact.

I plant a large garden every year. Last year 75 tomato plants, I use them in my restaurant. I also plant corn, cucumbers, okra, watermelon, cantalope, pumpkins,
lots of herbs, and anything else I feel like. I love fresh outta the garden. I also have lots of blueberries, blackberries, and figs growing here and there. Nothing better than walking outside in the morning with your cereal bowl and grabbing some berries to put on top.
I have an extra couple acres in the back yard so I just plant however much I feel like. Not sure what I'm doing this year, but it's time to get it going.
