I can under stand the original 911 call. my mom would freak out if there were folks sitting by her with guns on thier hips. However, once you show proof you are allowed to carry, and that the gun is yours, the conversation should end there. My guess is the one gentlemen was talking back a little and considering he did have a gun, probably made the cops a little nervous.

Now if Old Buffet place wants to enforce rules that aren't constitutional, then let them try, my guess is the NRA will be marching out front for a while.

Don't get me wrong. I am a gun owner and a proponent of "when they pry my cold dead hands...". But if you are not a policeman, or if you are not a hunter on the way to the field, or if you are not going out to do some sport shooting, I don't really understand why some one wants to carry a gun on their hip. I have lots of friends that have a conceal carry permit that carry their pistol in their briefcase/ satchel/car. But with the exceptions of the above examples it almost seems like they are being a little macho and in your face with the on the hip gun action.

Yep, I agree, I concealed carry fairly often, and always have one in my car. Having one strapped on your hip if you are not clearly identified as a police officer makes me a little leery. Here in Texas I believe it is illegal, I am not sure I agree with that, but if you are going to dinner carry if you want, but it seems like common courtesy to conceal it.

I think Wal-Mart has a sign that says the unlicensed possesion of a fire arm is not allowed, so as long as you have a carry license you are fine.

Regular Joe's should not be carrying firearms permit or no permit. Its just dumb and chances are if you're being robbed or some thing by the time you reach for the gun you've got a bullet in your head. Even better after a few drinks you can pull out the guns to settle the bet.. it just doesn't make sense to me to be carrying guns around while conducting your daily activities if you are in no way involved with law enforcement.

And honestly, I live in Pakistan, Karachi nonetheless, I don't carry a gun is your neighbourhood that bad ass that you need to be packin' every time you leave the house?

uh... most places do not allow you to carry firarms... including some places that sell them... like Walmart.
I can't get to the link because of WebNONsense here at work but Wal-Mart Corporate released a statement a couple of years ago stating that they would not restrict customers with CWP’s from carrying concealed weapons in their stores. Their employees however are not allowed to carry. If a store posts a no concealed weapons sign, they are in violation of corporate policy. As far as I know this has not changed.

Seriously, it's not about "robbery". I mean, guy tries to steal my wallet, take it, no problem, just go.

Whatever is in my wallet can be replaced.

My loved ones cannot be replaced as far as I'm concerned. I live in a very low crime area. The actual odds of a problem are slim, but I have a permit. I have guns. I might as well have one with me.

I am no cowboy in the old west mind you. And like I was saying above, simple theft is a not going to get me to shoot someone.

A gun is a tool. Nothing more.

As long as they weren't breaking any laws, then I think it was a bit of an overreaction.

If the guy was being a jerk about it, I can see why they confiscated it, but I wasn't there, and do not know what he did. Just glad that I've never had to deal with any of that stuff.

Anyone know of a good cigar to smoke while I sit back and clean my guns?????

Ever heard of the Luby's masacre here in Killen TX! This is exactly the kinda place nut jobs go into and start blowing people away! If anyone in that Luby's would have had a piece on them many lives might have been saved! This incident is what got the conceled handgun laws passed her in TX. Boycott away! That place is terrible anyways.

Here in Missouri it is ILLEGAL to carry a concealed weapon without a permit but I can strap a gun on my hip and walk aroung freely (not concealed) this is why you have business with the "No Firearms/weapons Allowed" signs posted.

As the late great Charlton Heston once said '.....There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a decent person is no threat to anybody -- except bad people...

Just to play the Devil's Advocate: How come it's OK for these dudes to carry on their hip when I can't walk around with my Wingmaster slung across my shoulder?

i can understand conceal carry but why have it on your hip. i guess if you feel the need and cant conceal but none the less if they have the correct permits there is nothing wrong and they should have been left alone

I agree. I believe that in the great majority of cases, the one who carries the gun for protection will have that gun used against him, or the assailants weapon used against him well before his gun gets drawn anyway.
