Someone gifted me a "real" Montecristo, its a box pressed cigar, about 6 inches by maybe 50.

What monte is this? It came 10 to a box.

Or is this a fake? I'm not to keen on habanos, but the box pressed surprised me. I've never heard of a box pressed monte.

Yea, its a pyramid - just slightly though. You actually have to look at it for a second before you realize it.

And the press is also a moderate one - nothing as sharp as a Padron

Interesting.

The guy who gifted this is a good friend, he is very reputable with his habanos', the box looked perfect - but it struck me that the box only carries 10 sticks.

Suckling at CA mentioned on his vids and blogs a while back that Habanos would be marketing 10 count boxes. His info was correct, as I'm seeing more and more sticks offered this way.

Saw them (Monte 2 10 box) today in the Duty Free in the Mazatalan airport. Have no idea if they were boxed pressed. I haven't seen a M2 with a press, I've seen slightly squared because they fit tightly in the box. Of course they rounded out if you gave em some room or age.

Slight pyramid with box press? Sounds fishy...

I have a 10 ct Monte #2 box, they are a standard torpedo shape, not much of a box press.
