i just filed my 08 taxes! now i just have to figure out what percentage of it i want to spend on new cigar "stuff". i think its already time to upgrade to a larger humidor, maybe that'll be included in the list. i need some tatuaje cigars in it too, since i don't have any and they seem to be the rage here, haha. hhmm. time to start a list!!

ouch that sucks. i thought i would end up owing a little bit this year because i cashed in some of my 401k early to help offset a bad vehicle purchase last a few years ago, haha. anyway, i ended up with a little bit of a rebate, so i figure i'll save a little and splurge a little.

any specific reason you owe you so much? do you work for yourself or do contracting work?

Nope big corporation. I made a withholding error because I forgot my wife graduated in 07 and I did not pay any of her tuition which I usually get to deduct. That coupled with a decent bonus and her making some okay money popped us up a couple if brackets. It was my fault for not planning properly, thank goodness there were no fees or penalties involved. I have corrected the problem ans should not owe too much next year.

No I have always made a point to save quite a bit so the payment is not a huge problem. I would just rather keep then give it to them!

i will be payin off some debit from college books... oh gotta love the wonderful school specific edition textbooks

I hate that so much. What a racket. At my college there was an underground used book trade website (it had to be underground because some kids tried to set it up as a legitimate thing and the bookstore had them shot down...seriously!). The college book market must be run by the mob.

Back on topic, I'm mostly done with my taxes as well. Still waiting on a few forms from the bank, but it's nice to be almost done.

Yes, TurboTax will do the 1040x for you. You have to mail in the amended 1040x and the software gives you the address to mail based on where you live.

I owed them last year, paid them off and now I'm waiting on one last 1099 to file this year..I don't know what it's going to look like...Maybe my stimulus check will offset anything I owe....although I am a little confused because I thought after the election I would'nt have any debt and we would all be hanging out at the beach or something....not sure what happened:halfgrinw

I have to itemize and still haven't gotten the form from the mortgage company. Also have to take inventory of all the medical and medicine we've bought (deductible in AZ without regard to income).

I've already done the income side of it and think the deductions should cover the amount owing.

Is Wiggy's tax advice going to be to smoke lots of cigars and then file an arson report? :)
