here is the rundown on travel humidor manufacturers.

on large travel humidors (18 and up), Cigar Caddy (Otterbox) and Xikar are the same exact case. Neither company manufactures their own case, they are made by S3 Case. Cigar Caddy chose to use the Boveda (best in my opinion), and Xikar chose to use a green foam humidifier. So Bottom line is pick what humidifer that you like best.

On smaller travel humis, there is a difference between Xikar and Cigar Caddy. The 5,10, and 15 stick Xikars are made by S3 Cases. S3 is actually using old Otterbox molds. There is nothing wrong with them, but you are getting old style cases. Otterbox made some improvements on hinges and gaskets, and these improvements are in the 2,5,10, and 15 stick Caddys. Cigar Caddy is the better choice.

hey guys, i dont mean to imply that a Xikar or Extreme humidor sucks. They are good. as a retailer, i used to sell xikar travel humis. if one of the latches broke, you had to send back the broken humi. cigar caddy fixed that by using removable latches. I also had a major problem with loose gaskets on the Xikar travel humi. i had to check and repair each before sending them out. so that was another pain in the ass. no problems ever with Caddy.

my opinion is just based on selling a lot of cases, and knowing details about the manufacturers that a retail customer would not know.

One piece of advice if you go Xikar. They have no pressure release. If you check it you will need a crowbar to open it. I learned this the hard way. The lack of stablized air pressure below cabin in a plane seals it and seals it well. Other than that I love the 10 count I have.

yeah, both xijar and caddy have no purge valves on smaller humis. i have a real nice 15 stick model with a purge valve coming out in next few days. about $5 more than a 15 caddy, but it will the purge valve and a folding handle. it will look like the baby brother of the caddy 18 and 30

got myself a 10 count cigar caddy. Looked at my local B&M today to compare the cigar caddy and xikar. We started talking and the owner kept giving me cigars to smoke when I was there. This local B&M is small. I honestly believe my living room is bigger than the place but it's close and local, it's in the beach resort town and we haven't hit tourist season yet here so it was nice to just chill.
