I'm more of a Spirit of Radio, person; but Rush's lyrics, even if they can be interpreted differently, are in reality (most) quite bland. Now something like:

"And in the naked light I saw
ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
people hearing without listening,
people writing songs that voices never share.
And no one dare
disturb the sound of silence."

Spirit of the Radio is not one of my favorite songs, Imho they went downhill (i.e. commercial) after Hemispheres but still produced some great songs The last time I saw them live was on the Moving Pictures tour in LA, man that was a great show.

Yes they did. But I cannot deny that songs makes me smile. Now, musically speaking, I'd rather several others; but forit to sound in the stereo ina stressful day: Spirit of Radio.

I used to love her,
but i had to kill her
I used to love her,
but i had to kill her
I had to put her, six feet under
and I can still hear her complain
I used to love her,
but I had to kill her
I used to love her,
but I had to kill her
I knew I'd miss her,
So I had to keep her
She's buried right in my backyard
I used to love her,
but I had to kill her
I used to love her,
but i had to kill her
She bitched so much,
she drove me nuts
And now we're happier this way, alright
I used to love her,
but I had to kill her
I used to love her
but I had to kill her
She bitched so much,
she drove me nuts
and I can still hear her complain
I love this song!

There are too many but I guess for today it would probably be The Gambler by Kenny Rogers

On a warm summers evenin on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin out the window at the darkness
til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, son, Ive made a life out of readin peoples faces,
And knowin what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
So if you dont mind my sayin, I can see youre out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey Ill give you some advice.

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, if youre gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

Now every gambler knows that the secret to survivin
Is knowin what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
cause every hands a winner and every hands a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep.

So when had finished speakin, he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count you r money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

The first concert I ever saw in Kansas City, they played for 3+ hours did 4 encores ran out of songs to play and played Wheel in the Sky a second time. The cops kicked us out of Kemper Arena about 12:15am as Fire Code did not allow you to stay past midnight.

Man I'm I old:crying:

You don't tug on superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger

And you don't mess around with Jim

I've been to Memorial Hall but not the Cowtown Ballroom where is/was it?
it was an old skating rink in it's earlier days. around 31st and Gilham. been closed for 30 years at least. i'm thinking it was probably a MAJOR fire trap! not that anyone would have had anything flammable!!!!!!!!!!

Mägo de Oz- Diabulus in musica

Oh, Señor, rey de tristeza,
Ángel del dulce dolor,
Bebe la hiel de mi boca
Blasfema, ven y hazme el amor.

I'll translate that for you guys.

Oh, Lord, king of sorrow,
Sweet angel of pain
Drink the gall of my mouth
Blasphemous, come and make love to me.

Pretty weird paragraph, the whole song is weird and erotic, i think. It used to be one of me fav's in junior high school.

I was once out strolling one very hot summer's day
When I thought I'd lay myself down to rest in a big field of tall grass.
I lay there in the sun and felt it caressing my face.
As I fell asleep and dreamed,
I dreamed I was in a Hollywood movie,
And that I was the star of the movie.
This really blew my mind,
The fact that me, an overfed, long-haired, leaping gnome,
Should be the star of a Hollywood movie...
But there I was....

I was taken to a place, the hall of the mountain kings.
I stood high upon a mountain top, naked to the world,
In front of every kind of girl...
There was long ones, tall ones, short ones,
Brown ones, black ones, round ones, big ones, crazy ones...
Out of the middle, came a lady,
She whispered in my ear something crazy,
She said...

"Spill the wine and take that pearl"

Jet fighters never die

Mikey was a little boy, he loved to watch the clouds
He was born to fly
Mikey joined the Navy, his father was quite proud
Mother never wanted it that way
He got into the cockpit and rose up in the sky
Set his sights on Beirut and he let his missles fly
Boom, Boom!

Jet fighters never die
I don't know, but I've been told
It's been said that God is dead
Jet fighters never cry, jet fighters never die

The General smoked a Cuban blunt
HAND ROLLED by the Reds
Then he poured a glass of Scotch
and tallied up the dead

The fighter banked into the night, then he caught a Sam
He rose up into Heaven with Jesus in his hand
Scenery was so beautiful, could not believe his eyes
Then he spotted John Wayne, he knew he had arrived
Jesus interrupted him, he had something to tell
They had to speak with Allah, he sent them both to Hell!
Boom, boom!

-Jet Fighter - Butthole Surfers

Great tune and a cool punchline.

Pink Floyd-Money. Old song that still holds so true today.

Money, its a crime.
Share it fairly but dont take a slice of my pie.
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today.
But if you ask for a raise its no surprise that theyre
Giving none away.

Thanks for reminding me how much I enjoy Burdon!

Nightwish- I wish i had an angel

"Deep into a dying day
I took a step outside an innocent heart
Prepare to hate me fall when I may
This night will hurt you like never before

Old loves, they die hard
Old lies, they die harder"

"I'm in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight"

Cry, if you want to cry
If it helps you see
If it clears your eyes

Hate, if you want to hate
If it keeps you safe
If it makes you brave

Pray, if you want to pray
If you like to kneel
If you like to lay

Dont come over here
And piss on my gate
Save it just keep it
Off my wave

-Soundgarden, "My Wave".
