very expensive for something that I've heard is a complete waste of time... I will wait when they drop the price because they have to much stock, bad move by habanos s.a.

Habanos unveils Montecristo Open range 16/07/09
CUBA. Habanos has launched Open, a new range under the Montecristo brand.
First presented at this years Habanos Festival, Open has a blend that comprises selected leaves from the finest vegas in the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba.
The Open range comes in four sizes: Eagle, Regata, Master and Junior.
Eagle is the biggest cigar in the new line, with a ring gauge of 54 and length of 150 mm. Its factory name is Geniales.
Regata is a figurado and it closely follows the tradition of Montecristo Nº2 in a thinner smoke. Its factory name is Forum, and it has a ring gauge of 46 and a length of 135 mm.
The robusto, an eagerly awaited arrival in the Montecristo range, takes the form of the Master in the new Open line. It has a ring gauge of 50 and is 124 mm long.
Junior (ring gauge 38 and 110 mm in length) caters to current trends in the global cigar market, taking into account the smokers profile evolution as well as smoking restrictions in some areas. The factory name is Trabucos.

"If not for the construction and the inflated price, I could say that the Montecristo Open Master was a decent smoke for beginners. Good-looking, medium-bodied and accessible flavor-wise, it has everything to be a success. However, if you have some experience with Cuban cigars, I do not see this line as a good addition to your humidor."

Yeah & just because it's Cuban doesn't mean you'll like it. Don't like Cuban Hoyos, so I don't buy them.

While I may not exclusively smoke CC's, I can say 99% of my humidor is taken up with CC's. Most of the NC's that I enjoy cost more than CC's that I can get and that I enjoy more. If and when the embargo gets lifted the price difference will change, but until then my buying habits will remain the same.

Present company excluded, I would bet money that 75% of the people smoking CC's aren't smoking what they paid for anyway....they wouldn't know whether they had a counterfeit CC or not!

had a montecristo open eagle last night.
The good:
great construction
beautiful looking cigar
firm to the touch
nice aroma before lighting it
quality materials used
excellent draw; lots of smoke
lot the ring guage and length: same size as a cohiba VI which is one of my all time favorites
the bad
very muted flavours; monte lite is a good description
don't see this developing much as they age; debatable
bad burn; might be that I smoked it as soon as I left the B&M; could have been overhumidified
All in all, I might get a fiver of each size to throw into the humi and let it sit for a few years as an experiment. Opinions will definately vary on this cigar.
