Ok. I've been looking around for a corona/petite corona and the Hoyo Coronations and Montecristo #4 have really caught my eye. Buying both and trying to see which one I like better isn't really an option right now. So, I thought I'd ask some more experienced brothers. I've had a Hoyo before, but it was a bit longer. I loved it. But, the Monte's have to be the top selling cigar for a reason. So. Which would you pick? This will be a weekly/bi-weekly smoke. Thanks in advance for any input.

Any other suggestions would also be welcome.

It's not my preference but I'd choose the Hoyo. They're approachable younger & are more consistent in flavor. The Monte blend varies from tangy & fruity to cocoa & coffee flavors. When young, the tangy tastes come across very tannic & aren't too appealing, IMO. The Monte's are better cigars if you're willing to wait.

Try them both and you decide what you like. I only use reviews to educate me, not decide what I will smoke or not! What I might like you might not!
Oh. I agree. But, it's harder to get these than NC cigars (or maybe it is just as easy and I just haven't tried). I was really looking for the experienced view like Kurt pointed to, good to go or needs aging before you smoke. With that said, I'm going to try to find a sampler of different corona sized smokes.

In that case, Hoyo for me. More body and flavor. But the Monte #2 is yummy too with some age. The RASS are always great!

But of course, we are just talking hypotectically!

Go look at the production numbers for Monte 4. It is the most made CC. They are produced in a lot of different factories and as a result consistency is a JOKE. When they are good they are great. Lately though most have not been so good for me. Of the two you listed I would pick Hoyo. The old joke is Hoyos all taste the same and largely they do.

For me I would look at SCDlH El Principe crushes both those options in terms of flavor and consistency. Trini Reyes are great, as are Upman CM, Juan Lopez PCs are good and as mentioned Bolis are good. To be honest there are a lot of better choices out there. Of the two listed I would go HDM though just because you are guarenteed to get consistency.

I have "heard" both are good but for my money would go with the Hoyo.

Since I don't care for Hoyo's I would say the Monte #4. That said ahbroody is correct about the Monte #4's. They produce so many that you never know what your going to get? They are known to be a hit or miss.
