My name is Charles. I'm from New York City (Queens, specifically). I've been smoking cigars on and off for about 10-12 years now, though only recently as a serious hobby. I came across BOTL a couple months ago during some random internet reading. I've been lurking here for a little while, and dabbling in the forums for a wee bit. I figure it's probably time I poke my head in here and make it official.

Some of my favorite cigars of the moment are Padron Anniversary Maduros, DPG Blacks, Tat Reds, and Ashton Maduros, but I'm having a great time trying all sorts of different sticks. Every week I have new favorites. I'm sure some of you can relate.

Is there anyone else from the NYC area in here? I see lots of Jersey, and a little bit of LI, but I've yet to run into another member from the "five boroughs". Any of you out there?

Hello and welcome. I can relate to every week having new favorites, flavor profile never changes much but who accomplishes that task does all the time that's why I buy five packs. It allows me to try enough of a stick to see if I truly like it enough for a box purchase or just like it enough for a unique smoke every once in a while.

Box purchases are what get me in trouble. I always feel compelled to stock up on cigars I like. Problem is, even when I'm smoking pretty heavy, it generally means 2-3/week, and there's always a backlog of new things to try. They pile up fast. Just in the last couple months I've been serious about this again I've filled up my 75ct desktop, bought a new 75ct desktop, filled that up, and overflowed into cigar boxes with drymistat tubes in 'em.

Hey Charles,

I haven't been there yet. I'll need to check it out on a lunch break. Maybe meet up for a smoke sometime soon. I'm over on 52nd/7th.
I feel like I'm giving my secret away! I love Barclay Rex. They have a branch down on Broad street near where I host my servers, and a little shop on 42nd near grand central. There's a third one over on Lex in the 50's, but I haven't been in there yet. They keep a nice selection of Tats, and they get some HTF stuff in. Picked up some Opus, and a box of Anejos there recently. Heard they had some DC Maximus, but I think I missed the boat on that.

As for taking in a smoke, that's something I'm always up for. Know any other NYC BOTL we should call for?

-Charles

Welcome (officially) to BOTL!

I'm just over the border in PA, but I head in to NY pretty frequently - I hear good things about Barclay Rex, but have yet to see for myself!
