I was recently told by a fellow cigar smoker that I can look forward to a long future of trying to avoid nic sickness with food/sugary beverages if I don't intend to smoke every day (and preferably more than one a day).

Is this true?

How often do you smoke?

Am I really not going to be a true cigar smoker unless I start smoking every day?

Both my fiancee and my health will not thank me for that. Nor will my wallet. And while I absolutely love my cigars, I have to say I just do not see myself ever becoming someone who has their "morning stick", "lunch stick", "dinner stick" and "dessert stick" with odds and ends in between.

And here's the daily double - do you smoke cigarettes as well as cigars?

I'm 19, in college, and broke. Can't really afford to smoke cigars everyday, nor do I think I would want to. I enjoy cigars probably 1-2 times a week, depending when I have classes and the weather outside. I am also proud to say that I am not a cigarette smoker. Haven't smoked ONE. EVER. Hard to believe eh? Well that's my schpeel. :skew:

WT??? I may be way off here, but that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard about cigars.

Well I've smoked a cigar every two days for the last two weeks.

Yet the other night I smoked an Illusione HL after a large meal, and even after drinking a large glass of Coke afterwards, I felt like shit for about 2 hours.

Is it just that anyone, even the most seasoned cigar smoker, occasionally finds one that really kicks their butt?

True smoker?
Bro, this is all personal prefrence. Don't let anyone else define your enjoyment of a cigar. With the exception of yielding to health warnings and risks of course.
I also think it's wise to regulate amount smoked to avoid any need or addiction. Just don't want to be a slave to anything like that.
With that being said, since you are asking, for me it varies...I may smoke 12 cigars one week and 1 the next. I don't smoke when I'm ill, etc.

Basically I'm just try to say that, if smoking somewhere between 3 and 5 cigars a week isn't going to be enough to "up" my nicotine tolerance, I may have a problem.

To be truthful, the only time I'm not smoking a cigar is when I'm sleeping....but I've been smoking cigars for close to 35 years....and I smoke between 4-6 a day! :cbig:

Simple answer is yes, IMO.
I think many things play into this...and it's probably not an exact science.
Personally, haven't been sick in looooong time. And felt "buzzed" only twice or so in last year or 2.

Oops! Sorry. I completely missed the post where you already said this.

Sorry. Hate making someone repeat themselves.

2-3-4 a day for me, and still every great one in a while a strong one on a emptyish stomach lights me up a little. Not often, though.

2-3 on an average week, occasionally 5 or 6. Rarely 2 in a single day.

I prefer to keep it moderate. And also, I really want to enjoy my cigars when I smoke them. This means I don't want to smoke anything cheap, and I don't feel like spending $200 a week on cigars!

Great point. I've gone from what the ad brochures say are "premium" $2-$3(RP, etc) to stuff "I" feel is premium, but x2+ more $, so I smoke a bit less due to that. Quality over quantity.

Wouldn't you like to know?
It has been a long time since a stick has kicked my ass. I don't smoke every day but I smoke whenever I have time. So sometimes that may be 3-4 a week or when I am in Havana I smoke close to 10 a day. First one lit by 8am last one out at 3 am.
