So, as many do, I decided to take a "punch" to the chisel of my LFD Air Bender today. I usually just cut the back off and decided to switch it up a little (either that or I was delirious with the temp in negative arctic tundra).

I must say, I will be putting the "punch on the chisel" from here on out! I was able to nub this baby down without ever getting any tar on the tongue and the flavors were fresh and much more distinct toward the end.

I posted a few pic's I was so excited:smokingbo

Great pics, man!

I have to admit...I never would have, myself, thought to punch a cigar in that location.

Great pictures.

I've tried it a couple of times. I found I prefer the draw of a good ol' fashioned cut on my Chisels.

Thats the only way to smoke a chisel.
Litto "invented the chisel" to punch. I've never cut a chisel any other way.

Nice pics

The only problem I would encounter with this technique would be that, I'm not a huge fan of putting like 1" or more of the cigar in my mouth to take a draw.

Maybe that's something that will change over time. I've just never really grown accustomed to really gobbing on the cigar.

Yep, thebayratt is right, Litto intended these to be cut this way. Only way I smoke Chisel's. I will say I punch both sides and higher up, much closer to the cap though.

I've also heard him say that you can also pinch the chisel tip. Like squeeze the sides, and the cap pops opened. I've smoked a few chisels that way, and always get a perfect draw.

I "discovered" the joy of punching a chisel not too long ago and I must say that it is THE way to smoke it, VERY enjoyable...you get the flavor/smoke right on your palate, it is perfection!
