While I understand why it's being done I wonder when this decision is being made if any considerations are being made to the fact that there are some cigar smokers that live 2 to 3 hours, one way, from any tobacconist shop?

There are some cigar smokers who shop online for their cigars moreso for necessity than finding the cheapest available price. This is just a trend that is becoming more and more prevalent.

I assume you can get around this by finding a B&M with an online presence and buy that way.

But I don't know.

While I can certainly understand why this would suck for people that don't live near B&Ms, it is a nice reward for the people that go into those shops on a daily/weekly basis and have built up relationships with those stores. Nothing would upset me more than my local shop getting a rare or htf limited cigar, and then I don't get a chance to buy any because they sell out online in 2 minutes.

Any worthwhile B&M would be happy to ship to you, rendering your physical distance irrelevant. B&M exclusives help protect them from the online warehouses like CI.

Agreed, Just about anything can be had online with a little effort.
True, but then they post the fact that they are unable to sell it online. If they can't sell online but then post the fact that they can sell if you call them and make an order, it defeats the purpose of the intention that one physically goes to the actual b&m to purchase it.

I dont think it defeats it at all. It's meant to show support for the small shops, that cant compete with large online warehouses. To encourage people to get offline, and walk into a store. They'll gladly ship it to you, and defeat the purpose, but they are doing it to cater to you, once again giving another reason why you should support them.

Not sure why this is an issue. These B&M releases are rare, and hardly take a percentage of whats out there.

True if a cigar is meant to be a B&M only cigar, the B&Ms that have online stores are not suppose to put them online. That being said if you don't have a B&M close that you can visit most will take orders over the phone. So with a little effort you can still get them. I think it's a great idea to support the B&Ms. Before long them and your back yard will be the only place you can smoke. If we can smoke anywhere.

Wouldn't you like to know?
The big difference isn't that it defeats the purpose but it helps protect those shops from the online guys that sell at heavily discounted prices. Buying from a B&M that will ship has many advantages. Finding stuff like opus can be difficult online without over paying but if you have a good relationship with a B&M they will help you out. A couple of years ago I switched to only buying from B&M's as I like to know who I am talking to on the other end of the phone.

Thats what I really like about working with 262. We do allow some B&M's to put 262 cigars on their online stores but we dont sell to the big internet retailers that love to buy big and slash prices. Being strictly B&M exclusive is a tough gig so this is a nice way to have at least some online presence since so many brothers buy strictly online in todays market. At the moment there are very few places online to buy them anyways and it will probably stay that way as well.
