Were a week out from whats going to be the biggest crowd in MMA history, by far. Unfortunately me or any of my friends were not able to get tickets.

I pick GSP.

I think he keeps it standing for the first few rounds, similar to the last Kos fight, out striking him. Then after wearing him down, takes him to the mat and ground & pounds him for the final two rounds for a 50-45 decision.

I don't think it is a cakewalk at all. I think GSP squeaks out a win in a 4th round stoppage, but it will be the toughest fight he's had in the last 2-3 years.

It's "we're a week" "not were a weak"

GSP is 90% likely to win, but anyone can get lucky...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and pick against the home town boy I have a strange feeling Shields can this one outta his ass provided he comes in shape. He was miserably out of shape his last fight and was predominantly fighting MW in Strikeforce and his UFC debut was his first WW fight in a while. But I have a feeling Shields can win the punchers battle he's got a solid chin and GSP failed to stop Kos after busting him up Shields has knocked people out while trying to find his feet.

I lie GSP he's my boy but I have a feeling...

As a huge BJ Penn fan I would like to see GSP get KTFO but... he'll probably win this fight. If I was a betting man I will give odds and take GSP.

You have a point there regarding Shields having not fought at WW in awhile that I've overlooked. That can really play against him if he's not used to the weight cut, and cause him to gas. I can see GSP finsishing this now.

I got to go with larry on this one. Now GSP is a great fighter and it's going to be a lot closer than people think I just think Shields is so hungry he's gonna will himself to a win.

Unless Shields knocks him out, I think GSP will win. Anything that gets remotely close to a decision will go to GSP. Dana White has already said that the next logical fight for GSP, if he wins; is Silva. GSP vs Silva would be the biggest fight in history. Big fight = big money for UFC. You bet ur butt I'm saying politics will be involved.

I think that would be an ugly fight. I think that GSP is at the top of his class but not sure how he would fare moving up. I think that Silva is dominant to the point of lazy lately in his weight class. His fights haven't always been great lately but I dont think he is trying as hard and is fighting more to not lose the title then to win. His best fights have been in light heavy weight where I think they should be pushing him towards a title fight. GSP vs top Light heavy weight contender is a no contest in my books. While he is a great fighter he is not that good.

Regarding the politics, I have to disagree. The judges, and refs come from the sanctioning athletic commission, and are independent of the UFC. Dana has zero control over who refs, and judges, and how they ref or judge.

As a result he has been very vocal in his displeasure over how some these decisions are made. If politics of the judges skew their decision, money is not the factor, unless you want to insinuate that their paid off.

By politics I think he means GSP stepping up into a title fight when he shouldn't be considered, not having fought in that weight class before. Possibly some of the same issues I discussed as I think it would be a massacre.

Gonna have to go with GSP on this one. He's beaten every contender since the whole Matt Serra debacle and hasn't looked back since. And he has done it convincely imho. Plus he's from my hometown of Montreal.

Only seen Shields fight in his UFC debut and it was far from impressive. Think it was Kampfmann that gave him the goods but lost in a decision.
