My friend was in mexico this past week and brought back a Cohiba Limitada 2004 for me. He bought it at a cigar store.

I was wondering how would i be able to tell if this is real or fake?

at least the year is correct, which isn't often the case, so you got that going for you, which is nice

I hear alot of fakes being sold there even at La casas. This is a REALLY hard cigar and I would say you have to pay at least 100 usd per stick for the real thing, IF you can find one.
I have a couple of sticks left that I am watching over like a hawk.

not great definition on those shots, but it looks well constructed. The band looks right. Make sure the dimensions for the cigar are bang on (length/ring gauge)

It's from Mexico and is one of the most faked cigars on the market. Couple that with it's rarity and the cost of a legit box and you get a fake cigar.

double or triple cap on yours? Also comparing the pic j-fire posted, yours seems to have a little bolder font on the "Edicion Limitada"

Here are a couple pics
They look a bit to small, most fakes I have spotted have been a bit smaller in rg.

What did your friend pay? that will give you an absolute answer I think. You just cant find them cheap.

Finding real bands is not a problem expecially for a casa. Smoke the real thing and save the band is the best way.

I wouldn't do that so quickly. Mexican fakes are known to have all kinds of nasty things such as rat turds, hairs, bugs etc. in them. Cut it open for curiosity sake if you want but I'd personally toss it in the trash.
