I'm doing a project for a fellow BOTL in Illinois and he happened to have a business meeting in Phoenix the other day. This made it possible for him to make a trip down to Tucson to check out the progress. He was generous enough to bring a couple Montecristos from 1978. Upon lighting it I found a very earthy flavor that was very rich and distinct. It was like drinking Lagavulin Scotch VS Crown Royal. Very pronounced with a full smoke. As it settled into the first 1/2, it became very smooth yet still very flavorful. What a fanastic cigar. It was great to the last inch. A rare opportunity like this can really remind you just how good a cigar can really be. A+++++ in my book. Thanks Scott.:applause:

Interesting review brother. I have never read a review about a vintage cigar before. The oldest cigar I have in my humi is a RyJ 2007 LE :sadpace: someday I'll have my own vintage review :pokemyeye

I don't know if it's the age or just that it's a great cigar but the earthy flavor in the 1st 1/2 really was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Truly a treat.
