It was a gorgeous labor day in NYC. The wife and I decided to take a walk downtown to soak in the day. I brought along some treats for myself, one of which being a '98 Boli CE. These have been some of my favorite cigars over the years, and my one regret about them is not buying more when I had the chance. They're little flavor bombs and have a smoothness not common to fresher Bolivars.
This wasn't a complex cigar. The flavors were consistent, and varied only by degree. It started off earthy with a woody sweetness and some leathery, cocoa undertones. As I progressed through the cigar, the leather and cocoa became more prominent while the earthy, sweet taste faded further into the background. Even my wife perked up and said, "Sweet!", after taking a puff. There was no harshness throughout the entire smoke. A slight bitterness developed towards the very end. Around the beginning of the 2nd third, it developed a bit of a burn problem. It managed to correct itself, and didn't detract anything from my enjoyment. The slightly windy conditions may have contributed to it. Nevertheless, this was a medium bodied cigar that produced plentiful smoke with a "creamy" mouthful. I was once again reminded why I only smoke these on occasion - I'm trying to make my final box last as long as I can.

Awesome!!

I had the supreme pleasure of smoking a PC from 1998 recently, it was a perfect cigar. Besides that one stick, I've liked the CE best of the Boli line, though (in fairness, I've liked all Bolis, lol!).

Thanks for sharing your review with us. I've enjoyed all the 1998 BCE's I've tried.
