Received this as a gift from a great BOTL from South of the border (The US, not Mexico. LOL) who knows I love me some Cohiba Siglo VIs. Been loving the 2008 and onwards and he felf that I should experience a 6 year old example of this fine cigar.

The wrapper is a deep chocolately brown. Very well constructed. This thing is packed to the gills. The wrapper itself has a nice sheen to it however, isn't as pretty as other Siglo VIs I've had. The wrapper is a little toothy to the touch. A little bit of veinage however, I don't think that this will be an issue.

The smell of the wrapper is some deep cocoa tones with a very slight hint of sweetness. There is some cedar emanating from the wrapper. I think it is from the tubo though. Cold draw is a little firm. I like a little resistance with the draw so this will do just fine.

The triple cap is immaculately constructed. Just pristine. Fine workmanship and gives little resistance when I introduce it to my cigar punch.

One of the things I really like about Cohibas is how aromatic they are when lit. Just a beautiful bouquet. The initial puffs do reveal a healthy dose of cedar, cocoa, as well as dried nuts. The creamy, grassy profile is faint however, I think it will pick up as I smoke the cigar.

The draw is easy peasy and the cigar billows smoke. A little resistance which is AOK by me. Makes me concentrate on the flavors.

The ash is a dirty grey. Now, we are off to the races.....

The first third starts off a little muddled. Like kindergarten kids trying to get in line after recess. Chocolate, creme, that grassiness flavour as well as graham cracker and honey. Things settle down in time where it is a symphony of all the characteristics I mentioned above.

The burn line is relatively straight. Interestlngly enough, there are tiny bubbles forming within the tobacco ash. I've seen this before but do not know the rationale behind this. I tend to notice it with Cohiba cigars. I hope that they are not burnt beetle eggs. LOL

The aftertaste on this is long and cedar dominates on the retrohale.

The ash has held up all the way to the 2nd third. The Strength has picked up. The grassy, creamy characteristics along with dried nuts and leather are really pronounced. (that sounds a little dirty, LOL) Hints of cocoa, honey, graham cracker and cedar play in the background.

Entering the final third now. Burn line is razor sharp. No touch ups required for the duration of the cigar. Bitter chocolate, combined with grassy, creamy notes and a hint of cedar are the main characteristics of the cigar.

The same intensity of strength follows me into the final third. I don't think (hope) that it will get stronger than this or else I'll have a nicotine buzz going on.

After a few more puffs, I notice that my duaghter's soccer practice is almost finished. Looks like I will have to cut this one short.

Overall, a good cigar. Didn't blow me away as others have in the past. Just a solid, enjoyable cigar. Medium in strength to start and brings home a kick as I near the end.
