2007 Montecristo no. 4 Reserva Cosecha 2002
The 2007 Montecristo Reserva was a 5,000 box limited release. *Each box contained 20 cigars and the tobacco used was from the 2002 harvest. *The tobacco used was aged for at least 3 years before being rolled into the mareva format.
The wrapper is a light, creamy colorado brown. *Looks fantastic!!! *The roll is nice and tight throughout the cigar.
Marshmallows and chocolate aromas emanate from the wrapper. *Wonderful!!! *Reminds me of a when I was a little kid and roasted marshmallows over a fire and then dropped them in my hot chocolate.
The triple cap is wrapped to perfection and take easily to my punch. *The draw is bang on!!! *Just the right amount of resistance. *Yummy, yum, yum, yum....
The initial flavours off the cold draw is cedar, marshmallows, graham cracker and cocoa. *SMORES!!!!!
Time to take this to the flame...
First Third
The cigar takes easily to flame. *WWWHHOOOAAAA!!!!! *Powerful throngs of cedar come crashing through and onto my palate. *Didn't expect this. *Mucho Fuerte!!! *Medium full in strength from the start. *Pure flavour, no harshness to speak off. *Just me and the cedar, mano a mano.
Starting to settle down. *Woodinees, combined with cream, pepper, and expresso. *Glad I ate before this.
The burn line is on its game tonight. *Razor sharp. *The ash is whitsh and 'Dirty' grey. *fantastic volume of smoke coming from the head and the foot of the cigar with every puff. *
Draw is perfect!! *The stars are aligned with this one...
Second Third
The flavours have changed to more roasted nuts, graham cracker and oolong tea with a touch of pepper. *Strength is still medium full. *This packs a punch for a little guy!!!
The flavours of this cigar commands your attention and makes you 'sip' the cigar and then let it sit so you can enjoy the afterfinish.
Nice cream, pure tobacco, honey and expresso flavours are the anchors for the afterfinish. *They dance on my palate for an extraordinary amount of time. *A pure dose of flavour that stays forever....It's like you can chew the flavours!!
Burn line continues to stay strong. *The ash finally falls off after staying with me throughout the first and middle of the second third.
lean, angular, muscular and full of bravado, this cigar is...
Final Third
Just when you think it can't get stronger, the Montecristo Reserva shows me different. *'Don't understimate me,' it bellows at me. *'Wait till you see what I have in store for your palate next.'
A return to the forest!!! *Cedar, earthiness bolstered with graham cracker, cream and *deep, hard core oolong tea for good measure. *WOW!!! *The bitterness, combined with the leathery earthiness makes this a very powerful stick. *This is not for those for the faint of heart as this thing has NUEVOS!!!!
I can't say anything bad about this cigar except don't let the size fool you. *This *is an example of unadulterated, full throttle, mucho grande flavour!!!*
Solid burn line, abundant smoke production and a huge flavours is what you can expect from smoking one of these. *
Final Impressions
Two words: FLAVOUR BOMBA!!!!! *This was an explosion of robusto, in your face flavours wrapped into a tiny bundle of joy. *A wake up call for sure. *Still lots of life and vigor left in these little suckers and have the elements that will allow it to continue to age. *There was no flavour lacking at all after 5 years. *This was built for longevity. *One to last for the ages.
