A awesome brother on here sent me a Monte in a trade. I haven't smoked it yet but its got me wondering how do you tell if a vender is legit? Is there in your opinion a real difference in cc and Nc ? Forgive my newbieness but I'm interested. Thanks

Dale

This was discussed recently and it boils down to a combination of trust and research topped with a little understanding about gray market operations vs authorized Habanos distribution.

As for the difference between CC and NC... yes, theres a difference just like there is a difference between NC brands. It boils down to individual taste. Ive smokes a few CC and most were ok, some were awesome and some were crap. My personal fav is the Monte #2 and a recent H.Upman I had in Cancun. Ive never really like any Cohiba much but thats just a personal preference. I still try them when I can because some day I might find one I like.

I also have a follow up question.

Like s_bell, I have access to both CCs and Ncs. If you acquire CCs at a LCDH or Duty Free at airports, can you be 100% sure that your sticks are legit?

I'm reluctant to say you can be 100% sure of anything, but if you buy directly from an LCDH, you can be pretty damn sure they're real. Not sure about Duty Free, I'll let others comment.

Great. My sentiments exactly. Just wanted to make sure haha. LCDH, 99% surety. Duty Free, close your eyes and hope for the best lol.

If it tastes right, right?

I didn't mean to suggest duty free is good or not. I've honestly no idea, never bought anything at one.

Agree on your second point though!!

Spot on above... nothing is 100%, but your best option is buying at a LCDH and you should feel comfortable doing so. Many airport duty frees are great places to buy, but it can be a crap shoot just depending on where you are. First thing you should pay attention to is storage conditions as some duty frees may have legit stock, but crappy storage with dry sticks. Pay attention to bands and proper box packaging and codes.

Now that I think about it. The boxes that I bought were a bit over humidified.
