last night we had a little get together at my parents house. had steaks on the grill for dinner and a big bon-fire afterwards. it was me and my family, my parents and another couple, Tim & Thelma, who have been friends of the family since before i was born.
about 5:00, we received a phone call from our friend's sister in law that Tims brother had just passed away. it was an expected death. he had been very ill for the last few months. and they said he probably wouldnt live another week.
so our little party turned into a memorial service and the bon-fire into a funeral pyre. it would have been what he wanted. so we toasted to him and smoked fine cigars all night and celebrated the life of the self proclaimed "giant leprauchan"...

RIP Patrick....

Sorry for your loss Matt. It sounds like it ended up being good timing though since you are together when you learned of his passing.

RIP Patrick.

thanks for all the support guys. we spent some time today getting old pictures gathered up and selecting songs for the funeral, and heres some lyrics to one song that Pat always said he wanted played at his. its from one of his favorite bands, "The Pogues"

If I should fall from grace with God
Where no doctor can relieve me
If I'm buried 'neath the sand
Where the ANGELS WON'T RECEIVE ME
Let me go, boys
Let me go, boys
Let me go down in the mud
Where the rivers all run dry
This land was always ours
Was the proud land of our fathers
It belongs to us and them
Not to any of the others
Let them go, boys
Let them go, boys
Let them go down in the mud
Where the rivers all run dry
Bury me at sea
Where no murdered ghost can haunt me
If I rock upon the waves
NO CORPSE SHALL LIE UPON ME
It's coming up three, boys
Keeps coming up three, boys
Let them go down in the mud
Where the rivers all run dry
If I should fall from grace with God
Where no doctor can relieve me
If I'm buried 'neath the sod
Where the ANGELS WON'T RECEIVE ME
Let me go, boys
Let me go, boys
Let me go down in the mud
Where the rivers all run dry
