Hi there,
I just joined and wanted to introduce myself as others have. My name is Eric, I am 45 and I hail from the Boston area. I have been a casual cigar smoker for over 20 years, but have just recently become fascinated with the cigar culture. My first memory of a really good cigar was back in '92 when my roommate at the time bought me a box of Joya De Nicaragua Antano 1970. Btw, I recently bought more of these and could not replicate the experience. Come to find out, the ownership changed? Or different blender? I digress... In any case, I am now spending lot's of time (and money) learning about the cigar world, brands, families, blenders, topographical regions and nationwide B&M's and more. It has been a really interesting and fun experience thus far.
I've been "collecting" now for the past year or so, have purchased a humidor, have built another, and still find that I require more storage (tupperdors)! I think my palette is finally beginning to develop as at first, flavors that I read about were elusive. I'm finally getting them and being rewarded! My favorite smokes to date are: LP No. 9 and Fuente Anejo 48. Close seconds are La Aurora 107, Punch Rare Corojo Anniversary, Nub CT and Tatuaje Brown Label/ Black Label/ Havana, and I'm sure many others that don't come to mind... I am currently focused on new releases (Wild Bunch, CLE, CyB Lanceros, Lat46SS etc.).
My collection has grown to about 200+ cigars. I mostly purchase five packs, but have acquired a few boxes along the way, mostly because I don't smoke frequently enough to warrant boxes. My most prized possession thus far is a recently acquired Destino Al Siglio (Macassar). I can't believe I honestly spent that much money on four sticks, but alas, I did. I will save these for a very special occasion and share them with friends. Others I am trying to find are the elusive LP Unico Series and Fuente Anejo #77. Those seem to be impossible to find, yet I'm hoping I'll eventually find the key that unlocks that door (trying to develop a loyal relationship with B&M's).
Finally, I am happy to join the community of Brothers (and Sisters) and look forward to mingling. Thanks to all for participating in such great discussions, for sharing knowledge to us newbies, and for the positive attitude I see in most postings!
Cheers,
Eric
