Having smoked the pipe for nine years, in early last September I got an irresistible urge to smoke a cigar. Looking back, I think I was somewhat bored with smoking the pipe, but only somewhat. During those nine years I probably smoked a half-dozen cigars and found them an entertaining, expensive, discursion. At any rate, I bought a single of the Joya de Nicaragua Antano Dark Corojo and really enjoyed it, and then a week later bought a second. That’s the cigar that turned me onto cigars. I had never tasted a pipe blend that tasted like that blend. It was so new and so satisfying; the medium of weed stuck directly into the mouth was a far remove from the bowl to the bit.
At any rate here we are at 60 days from this 180˚ turn, and the few bowls I’ve smoked since then leave me flat. I’ve sold ⅔ of a considerable pipe tobacco cellar to fund cigars and humidors. But what remains of that cellar as well as my 60 pipes is not for sale. I’m having a grand time!
