I am going to Korea for about 8 days at the end of February for work. I have asked for some information on where I am going and what to expect and I have been told the following:
- Korea is a difficult country to travel in unless you speak Korean
- Don't arrive at the airport too early or too late or no one will pick you up
- I don't know the name of the city, you will find out when you get there
- The hotel isn't very nice, it's the local "love shack"
- If you don't like spicy food, you need to too
- Don't worry, you will do fine, the Koreans will think you are a wrestler. You know, you look like Stone Cold.

These comments were made by co-worker from Taiwan who will be joining me.

Can you get Cuban's in Korea? That would ease my mind a little.

Ahhh.........Korea.

The land of many awful stinks. Oops, that 's the "Land of the Morning Calm". :)

I never saw any cigars there, and the only advice I can offer is this........."DO NOT DRINK THE SOJU IN THE JAR THAT HAS THE SNAKES IN IT"

TRUST ME ;)

I want to learn korean. Probably the easiest of the asian languages as far as reading goes because their alphabet is phonetic.

Make sure you bring back plenty of pics and tell us all about the trip!

Have fun! Atleast you have somewhat of an interpretter going with you :dunno:
The guy from Taiwan doesn't speak Korean either. He has been there many times and told me it is one of his least favorite countries in Asia to travel in. He said Seoul is wonderful, but we will be there only to fly in and fly out.

My company does have an office in Korea and the guy that runs it emails in english very well, I have met him a few times before and we had trouble holding a simple conversation. He is supposed to be taking care of both of us that will be visiting.

I bought a new camera a few weeks ago and will take more pictures than I will ever need. For most of the days there I will have less than an hour's worth of work that I will be doing (if all goes well), hopefully allowing for some exploring. I was told that I will probably only have 1 or 2 opportunities to be online during the trip, this will all but eliminate me doing my normal job.

This looks to be the LCDH in Seoul.

I have some friends that are there, but none of them smoke cigars. Most Koreans have some knowledge of English, and one of my buddies who speaks no Korean says it's fairly easy to get around. I believe public transportation stops at midnight, but it is the best way to get around the city. Seoul is very commercialized and modern, but most others cities in Korea are not. If you're not around Seoul, you may be in for boring time.

I haven't been back there in many, many years, so I can't help you about what to expect when you arrive, but the girls out there (a lot of them, at least) are supposed to be smoking hot.:hearteyes

Have fun

Charles,
Thanks for the info. Hopefully we will be able to spend some time in Seoul. I'll just have to make it a requirement that I get to visit the LCDH in Seoul or I'm not going. I'm sure that will go over well.
Unfortuntely, I believe we will not be in Seoul. That's part of my worries. No one is giving me any good answers. I am sure all will fall in place as I get nearer to my trip.
