Just wondering as I answered the thread on "when do you smoke" and was thinking that when Im home, I MIGHT have 1 or 2 day, but now that I have my cigars on the truck with me and have access to them, I find myself smoking more. I smoked 4 yesterday and that made me wonder if I was smoking TOO much. How much is too much? I guess the boredom of being on the road makes me want to hit a fine cigar and I have easy access to them.

For the most part I think that's a personal decision but maybe ER Doc will see this and give some professional insight.

For me personally, I try to limit my smoking to 1 cigar a day. When I go out (maybe once a week) I might have 2 or 3. It's a combination of not wanting to smoke too much for my health and also the cost factor as $25.00+ a day for smokes is waaaay too much for me. On the days that I smoke 2-3 I sometimes won't smoke for a day or two after, just don't feel like it. Again... that's just my opinion what I'm personally comfortable with.

EDIT to add... I also know people that smoke 6-10 cigars a day, so "too much" is definitely a relative term!

I would say the answer is all relative to an individual.

If you are referring to "too much", as is this bad for my health?
Then I could point to people who smoke their whole life and live to 85-90 years old.

I would say that anything in excess should be cautioned no matter what it is.

What I would be concerned about, is if you lose the pleasure of enjoying a fine cigar.
Once it becomes a habit and not something enjoyable would make me slow down.

Cheers

That's all personal preference I suppose. Like wutnot said, if it's health that you're looking at, I'd look into some different studies if you can. But from what I understand there wasn't a significant enough increase in health risk by smoking one or two a day for it to be noted.

Other than that.. I only smoke 1 every day or every other day. I thought abotu having two yesterday, but the DPG JJ Maduro I smoked kicked my ass for almost 2 hours earlier in the day, and I ended up being 'smoked out' for the rest of the day there. Having a bunch of chores around the house helped too though.

There'd definitely be occasions I'd smoke more, but for now it's really 1 every day or two.

If you're asking the question, then you might want to reassess why you’re smoking as much and if you really enjoy doing it.

Whats up Allen,

I agree with everyone as far as it's a personal decision, but as you know one of your main concerns when smoking should be your health! We all know it's not the safest practice, but considering smoking cigarettes are worse gives us a better chance at dodging the bullet. When you take into consideration the higher risk factor then yes maybe it's a bit too much, if you smoke everyday -
4x7= 28 sticks a week! Compared to 1-2 a week for me but im more of a causal cigar smoker. You have an helluva palate my brother! Just my OP.

Ignoring the potential health concerns, my main concern would be if you are smoking now as a habit, out of convenience, rather than for relaxation/enjoyment. If you are not enjoying the cigars then really, what is the point? Personally, I smoke 1-2 cigars a day and more at events or on certain weekends. For me, that is a comfortable number in terms of enjoyment, $$$ & perceived health risk - but everyone has to decide for themselves.

At this point I only smoke two a week or so, but I hope to get into smoking one every day or two once my income becomes a little more stable.

My girlfriend won't be too happy, though!

It's just a question of if you guys. Thought it was too much. I have enjoyed ever draw of every cigar I have smoked. It's not a habit and it's not an addiction. I was worried I was enjoying them TOO much. Lol. Thanks guys.

Personally I can't understand smoking more than one a day on a regular basis. I would not have time, but I do not see it being enjoyable once it became a habit. You will becoem addicted to the nicotine in cigars at that rate as well as develop a physiological addiction with the "hand to mouth" movement 150-200 a day. Also Financially, 4 smokes a day is a box of smokes just during the work week, and then you have weekend smokes to buy as well. So yeah I think 4 smoke a day is too many, but that's me.

I think I'm gonna cut it back to 1 or 2 a day. The 2 being on my "day off". I don't want this to become a habit at all. I enjoy it too much to HAVE to do it. Besides, I can't afford it and dammit I know it. Lol.

I have read that more than 3 per day raises the risk of oralpharyngeal (mouth and throat) cancer. Under 3 sticks and you're no different than the average joe.

As with all things - moderation, moderation, moderation.

Time to reassess what you're doing if you have questions like this.
