So today was a date day with the gf. We live together and I am likely proposing this year. She is the one and my best friend. We have been together for over 3 years and its about time. So we planned a nice day in Manhattan. The day started with the NY International Auto show. She shares an interest in cars with me and loves the auto show. This year it was pretty good. Then we took a subway down to Spring St and walked around Soho, The Village, and went to lunch on Mulberry "aka" Little Italy (even though the Bronx one is more home to me haha). We ate at Lunellas which was great. Appetizer was Prosciutto di Parma with Melon. She had the Spaghetti Carbonara and I had Veal Parmigiana. Portions were not typical huge dinner portions they were nice and left room for dessert. My gf had always wanted to try Rice to Riches, a rice pudding dessert place with an incredible assortment of flavors of rice pudding. The place is becoming quite popular. We walked over to the place and ordered coconut rice pudding. It was above and beyond my high expectations. I love to cook and know how to make rice pudding and this place is on point.
So now to explain the tragic part of the day. Prior to leaving the house this morning I spent a lot of time looking for a cigar to take with me to smoke after dessert. I decided i needed something that would fit in the La Aurora tubo that I had in order to protect the cigar from all the city walking and bustling. I decided on a Regional Release Bolivar (Asia Pacifico) that I got as a gift from StukiBuilt. So after dessert I reach into my pocket and its not there I check all of my pockets and check my jacket as well. Its GONE! Now I know I had it at the auto show because I had to empty my pockets when they passed the metal detector around everyone walking in. i remember putting it back in my pocket. Now we were too far from the restaurant but I remember that I forgot my jacket there but the waiter ran it out to me halfway down the block. I was guessing they may have found it on the floor in the restaurant or maybe the guy took it. I called and they said no nothing on the floor etc. But I know it was secured in the inside pocket and someone had to have reached in there and taken it out. I was very mad but I calmly told the waiter that he should ask the busboys and just let everyone know I am not angry but if someone took it including him that I hope they realize the cigar inside the tube is a gem and I hope someone who truly appreciates cigars gets to put a match to it. The guy told me he would make sure his staff would hear my message. I am really upset that i didnt get to smoke it because I was really looking forward to it but the worst part is that I am SURE someone in that restaurant found it or took it directly out of my jacket.
I ended up going to a new B&M I havent been to in the area and bought a brand new boutique lancero I posted in the Today's Smoke thread. It was good and aided in a VERY long walk haha.
I got home to my MAW from Joel and it contained a note from Joel that stated "Forgive someone today. Just one person. When you do you'll set your heart and soul free." I read that and couldn't help but smile. I realized the person I had to forgive was whomever took the stick. I feel better now and all I can hope for is that the person enjoys it and it made their day better.
Thank you Joel. You truly helped!
