It seems like there are a lot of NE guys on here, so what do you think of the big trade yesterday? Did they just not want to pay Perk, or not trust his knees???

I'm a very, very, very casual fan. I'm a fan because I grew up there, but not because I enjoy basketball or anything.

That said, I'm kinda surprised they broke up the core 5 like that.

What I have heard is that Perkins expressed how much he expected to make next year with a new contract to the Celtics and it was more than they were willing to pay. That coupled with the fact that Big Baby is getting better each year they figured that they needed to get something for him rather than just let him go in the off season.

Kendrick was out almost the whole season... and, without him, they managed to have the second best record in the NBA at 33-10 before he finally came back from knee surgery in January. Why do fans think this is gonna be so devastating?
If Shaq stays healthy and fresh thoroughout the playoffs they should be OK for a run. If not good luck stopping Dwight Howard and the like. Future-wise Perk and Rondo were supposed to be the building blocks, so that's where I think a lot of fans are concerned. Early to mid 2000's are still fresh memories

Either contract issues, health issues or they want OKC to be stronger to beat LA if they face them in the playoffs. Westbrook, Durant and Perk on a roll might be enough.

Long time Celtics fan & season ticket holder - I do not like the move.

Gotta admit, Danny Ainge has some stones. To be fair, I am trying to wait to see what else he has up his sleeve, with the other bodies and contracts that he has just freed up. Long-term it may be a good move, but this season's margin for error is now zero.

Every time I try to come in off of the ledge, someone mentions the name "Sheed", and I am right back out there again.

I'm pretty sure there will be torches and pitchforks lined up and down causeway if Sheed is signed

So Im a fairly big fan.

Im watching Orlando play now.

My big fear is that Perk used to pretty much beat up and check Howard.
Now the celts have an aging shaq to do that.
I love Shaq, but at 40 he isnt going to go put out 32-38 Min in every game in a 7 game series. So I worry that Howard will go unchecked against the C's and that man is a beast and can roll the Celts in the 2nd round.

Hopefully the C's will go after him when his contract is up after next season....

To me they were saying that they have no respect for the soon to be DH less Orlando Magic (He's pulling a Shaq next year). They feel they need to be able to score with Miami and now the Knicks.

I am predicting a rematch of last years Finals with the same results only in fewer games.

Just pray the DH doesn't get hurt, otherwise things look very grim for the magic.
Trust me I know what you mean:angerhead, Ive been the biggest Magic fan since i could remember going to as many games a possible. I guess i thought with Dwight in his prime we are gonna have a shot. But on the downside Jameer Nelson is a hope that needs alot of backup. DANG IT IF ONLY WE KEPT MARCIN GORTAT TO GIVE NELSON AND TURKOGLU SOME SUPPORT!:cursing: (If of course DH leaves.) I can see we're losing our 3-point sniping game as well (Gotta tune that up a notch Stan!)
