I just got back from the Memphis International Paper Money Show and was wondering if there were any other collectors out there like me? I'm into cars, firearms, and beer 2 and there are lots of posts in those sections but nothing for a hobby like this. If you are into this kinda stuff at all let me know or if you went to Memphis definitely let me know!

Been into coins since the 1960s. Not much of a currency collector but do collect old railroad stocks & bonds. Went to the ANA last August. First show in about 20 years!

I'm not an active collector but I do have some currency that is fairly collectible. The oldest I have is a 1849 half cent that is in killer shape, edges are perfect looking. I had an 1803 and a bunch of large cents but my shit head brother found the collection which I found in my grand mother's house after she had passed away. Then my shit head brother sold them off to probably buy weed or beer, eitherway I wish I still had all those mercury head dimes and old half and large cent pieces. They were cool as hell, not very valuable but certainly neat. I thought it was cool to hold a coin from our country only 27 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed.

I wanted to attend that show myself but plans fell thru. I heard it was a really solid show and I regretted not making the trip. I haven't been to many shows outside of the the state of MI and the Memphis show is the furthest that I've attend to date. I do want to go to F.U.N. in Orlando and am making plans to go. If not this year then definitely next year. Its really easy to convince the whole family to go to that one as they can go to Disney while you get away for a day at the show after you've had enough of Mickey and the other madness.

That's what appeals to me most about this hobby - the history in your hands. Who knows what hands it's passed through or what places these coins have been. Certainly there is something cool to be said about that. National bank notes from the old west especially interest me greatly, though all are currently far more expensive than I can afford. Places like Dodge City, Kansas, Tombstone, Arizona, and Deadwood, South Dakota are especially awesome and have very cool history tied to them. If I manage to own any of these than something has gone very right in my life though so one can always hope I suppose.
