dont have any experience with cohiba lanceros or cohiba CE. Question are the flavor profiles the same? if not what is the biggest difference between the two? Finally do these smoke good fresh or are they best aged? thanks for any advice.

I've smoked far more CEs than Lanceros. Seems to me the only dif is length. Currently really enjoying 08 CEs. I firmly believe it's a waste to smoke a Cohiba with less than 3 years of age. When this box of 08s is gone, I'm opening a newly "rediscovered" box from ENE 05.

Mostly agree with this but will say best cohiba I have ever smoked was a CE the same day it was rolled at El Laguito.

Now that is a privilege for Laguito visitors :argh:

Interesting character for Cohibas.
I have had Cohiba Lancero 4 year aged which was out of the world good and could imagen more aging will do only good, but if fresh rolled aged leafs from factory are good as well , the sick period for Cohibas are 3-4 years long? Could that be a second aging process going on?

I think that's the theory, yes. I've heard many times that cigars off the table are how they are "supposed" to taste, and then it takes time for them to get back to that place. With NCs it doesn't usually take as long, but with CCs it can be a while. The theory is that is due to the fact that NCs use tobacco that's more aged prior to rolling, and although that is sometimes true it's not always true (Tatuaje, Illusione, etc use very young tobacco).

All I know for sure is that the only young Cohiba I've ever liked was the Behike. That marca uses good tobacco to be sure, but it does seem to require a lot of aging. It would be great if HSA fermented their tobacco the way NC manufacturers do and also aged it more ... but I don't think that's likely to happen.

Thank you all for the information. I have smoked exactly one Cohiba (which was about 8 months old) and I thought it was great. Someday I will have to get enough so that I can age them and see how wrong I was!

I'm bumping this old thread because I wanted to ask:

How do CURRENT PRODUCTION Cohiba CEs compare to the Lanceros?
